Chapter 1043

Cedrick could not help but glance outside when he noticed the numerous employees walking past his room. He furrowed

his brow.

"Haha! Your employees are endearing. Peeking at you having your dinner?" joked Catelyn.

Cedrick pulled his face and called Charles. "If any personnel lingers around my office without any urgent matter from now

until everyone gets off work, he'll have his wages deducted for the month and half of his year-end bonus cut."

Subsequently, Catelyn saw the same employees who passed by Cedrick's office disappear immediately after looking at

their phones. 'How domineering!'

After dinner, Cedrick had to work overtime. He suggested having the chauffeur send Catelyn home, but she refused and

insisted on staying to accompany him. Therefore, the office was weirdly harmonious for once.

Cedrick sat at the table to handle his work while Catelyn picked a few books from the bookshelf to read on the sofa. There

were many professionally written and odd books from many industries.

After reading for a while, she started to feel drowsy, fueled especially because she was pregnant. She placed her head on

the armchair of the sofa and looked at Cedrick.

People always said that a focused man was always the most handsome. It applied to Cedrick, too.

'He's so handsome. It's ridiculous how unrealistic it is that he looks like he's from a painting. He just lacks some

softness and has too much stress that he can't let go of...' she thought.

Cedrick noticed someone looking at him. There was only him and Catelyn in the room. Thus, he curled up his thin

lips and had a sense of accomplishment to have her admiring him.

The room was quiet, save the sounds of Cedrick flipping the papers and their breaths.

Not long later, Cedrick felt the pair of eyes no longer on him, so he looked to the sofa and saw Catelyn falling

asleep.

The sofa was too cramped, and it caused Catelyn to curl up into a ball. Her black hair fell beside the edge of the

sofa. There seemed to be a scent of gardenia fragrance in the air.

Cedrick put away the document and walked over. Using his strong arms, he hoisted her up from the sofa softly and

steadily to avoid waking her up.

In truth, however, Catelyn was not too deep in sleep. She felt the world moving around her and thus opened her

eyes when Cedrick picked her up.

"Huh? Have you finished?" she spoke, too sleepy to mind how she drawled at the end of her sentence softly.

Cedrick's eyes darkened. He could not control his Adam's apple bobbing, so he took a deep breath as he carried her

into the resting room in the office. He placed her on the bed and pulled the blanket to tuck her in. "Just a little more.

You can sleep here for now. I'll bring you back later."

"You have to take care of your health. Don't...work too late..." Although Catelyn did not fall into a deep sleep, she

was still very sleepy. She could not hold her eyes open for too long. After murmuring for a while, she fell asleep and

turned to the side to sleep.

Cedrick bent over to give her a peck on her forehead and quietly left the resting room.

Just when he closed the door, a sharp pain came from his brain. It was so painful that it felt like countless needles with a

hook at the end piercing into his brain in and out, over and over again.

He grabbed his head with one hand as beads of sweat began to form on his forehead.

His shirt clung to his skin as it was soaked by his sweat.

He strode to his table and quickly opened the second bottom left drawer to take out a medicine bottle and popped two

pills into his mouth.

Who knew how many times he had done this skillfully?

After taking the pills for nearly half an hour, the exploding pain in his brain gradually disappeared, followed by a moment

of doubt and a feeling of being lost.

Cedrick stared at the medicine bottle in his hand. He wondered if he truly... would not live past 30 years old as he was

told.

It was not Cedrick that woke up Catelyn. Instead, it was the vibration of her phone that aroused her from her slumber.
