Chapter 1044

Catelyn no longer felt drowsy after she went to the washroom.

Looking out from the blinds, she noted that Cedrick was still working, so she did not go out to disturb him. She made use

of the time by checking out the resting room.

The room had a simple setup with a king-size bed and a few books on the bedside table. The pages of the books were

creased, suggesting that the owner had been reading them quite often. Catelyn could imagine how Cedrick took some

time off to rest on the bed and read.

She picked up one of the books with the title, [What To Expect When You're Expecting], Looking at the other books, they

were all pregnancy books.

[Passport to a Healthy Pregnancy], [The Expectant Father], [50 Things To Do Before Delivery], and so on...

Catelyn was shocked. While Cedrick was reluctant to let her continue with the pregnancy, he had prepared so many

pregnancy books behind her back. 'What a sneaky man,' she thought.

Regardless of that, Catelyn could understand where he was coming from. Despite being a father of two four-year-

old genius kids, he had missed the moments where she went to pregnancy checkups and experienced the baby

slowly growing in her womb. Perhaps he also wanted to make up for it.

Catelyn imagined being him and read the book to feel what sort of feelings he had. The different levels of creases

suggested he read [What To Expect When You're Expecting] the most. While she read the book, she could not help

but burst out in laughter.

It was hard to imagine how serious he was when he read the pregnancy book.

Did he have that typical long face when he read, too?

The next day, all of the employees of Mason Group cheered joyfully, knowing Cedrick was not going into the office

today. He had to go to the hospital with Catelyn for her monthly checkup and returned to the villa to visit Janice.

When they were in the hospital, Catelyn was already familiar with the whole process. Although Cedrick had

accompanied her many times, there would always be a new experience each time.

When she heard her baby's heartbeat, she purposely placed the receiver to Cedrick's ear. "Did you hearthat? That's

our baby's heartbeat!"

No matter how calm he pretended to be, there was nothing in the world that could break the connection between

the parent and the child.

Cedrick's eyes sparkled with excitement as he asked, "How's the baby?"

"Same as before; clear sound from the lungs. There's no obvious abnormality from the ultrasound and other

checkings. Don't worry too much. Your wife is in good health, too. The young master is absolutely growing

healthily!"

Cedrick gave the doctor a fierce look that scared the doctor. 'I... I said good things, didn't I? Why does it feel so tense and

cold all of a sudden?'

His expression changed and he quickly added, "A few weeks later, we can do the 4D ultrasound, and you can see how

well your son's physical condition is and his movements. After that, we can also check for chromosomal or genetic

disorders in him..."

However, those words only made Cedrick's expression worsen. The entire room turned cold because of him. Catelyn, on

the other hand, was amused. The doctor had misunderstood the real reason for Cedrick's sullen face.

Cedrick wanted a baby girl, yet the doctor told him the baby was a boy. It would be a miracle if he was not mad.

"Alright. You heard the doctor, too. I told you I strongly believe the baby is healthy. It was the right thing to do to keep

him! If we had an abortion, you wouldn't have the chance to see him grow up!" she joked to ease the tension.

The chill encompassing Cedrick's body disappeared immediately. He placed his warm hand on her belly and curled up his

lips. "Regardless, I'm sure the baby is my little princess.’
