Chapter 742
These words pierced Vivian's heart like a knife. She couldn't understand why
Zachary, knowing secrets that could turn East Coast upside down, would willingly use that leverage to protect
Sarah.
Her grandfather suddenly struck his cane against the marble floor.
"Daydreaming?"
Vivian snapped back to reality. "I'm sorry, Grandpa. My mind wandered."
"Tellwhat you were thinking." His voice grew colder, his gaze seeming to see right through her.
She certainly didn't dare mention the West Ridge incident. Compared to her broken engagement, that matter
was truly untouchable for her grandfather.
"| was just thinking that Reynolds Group has been opposing us repeatedly. Zachary probably wanted to cancel
our engagement all along, and this incident gave him the perfect excuse," Vivian sighed.
Her grandfather snorted. "You have the nerve to say that? You handed him this excuse on a silver platter."
"I made a mistake, but we have no other options now."

She had no way to change Zachary's mind and could only fight with everything she had to protect herself and
Wilson Group.
In the Reynolds family room.
When Zachary entered, he saw his grandfather sitting at one side, taking a small sip from his cup.
After a long moment, his grandfather finally seemed to notice him. "Sit down." "Grandfather, you didn't call me
hjust to drink tea, did you?" Zachary knew his grandfather well.
William didn't answer directly. Instead, he pushed another cup toward Zachary. "Have a sip."
Without objection, Zachary picked up the cup and took a sip. The tea's fragrance filled the air. "Excellent tea."
"How is Mia doing?"
"She's receiving treatment at Sarah's home." He didn't hide anything.
His grandfather nodded slowly. "Why didn't you informbefore canceling such an important engagement?
Why not discuss it with the Wilson family first?"
Zachary pressed his lips together, remaining silent for a moment before answering. "Mia's condition has been
unstable, repeatedly triggered by Vivian. I've been patient for a long time."
"Is that the only reason?" His grandfather set his teacup down firmly. "Is it because of that girl?"
Zachary flinched slightly. He knew exactly who his grandfather meant.
"Grandpa, do you remember tellingabout the vicious dog you once raised? You eventually had to kill it
yourself. How could | tolerate something uncontrollable that repeatedly threatenswith the stactics?"
Like using the people he cared about most.
His grandfather's stern expression suddenly melted into a light smile. "Comparing the Wilson family to a vicious
dog isn't a very wise analogy."
Mr. Wilson's craftiness was legendary. Few of the old patriarchs in East Coast
were still alive, and those who survived had real abilities.
Vivian was a woman of great determination and vision who would use any means
to achieve her goals. Her only weakness was being too emotional.
"Grandpa, you don't seem angry at all." Zachary respectfully refilled his grandfather's teacup.
William suddenly pulled something from beside him. A glass bottle hit the stone table with a dull thud-the label
of the grain liquor boldly displayed before Zachary's eyes.
"Vivian brought this over this afternoon, under her grandfather's instructions."
A cold glint flashed in Zachary's eyes. He certainly knew what the liquor symbolized and understood why his
grandfather was showing it to him now.
