Chapter 745

Sarah immediately raised her right hand and slapped him hard. "You've lost your mind!"

Zachary pressed his tongue against the side of his face where she'd slapped him, feeling the stinging pain.

Looking at Sarah, he saw tears glistening in her eyes.

Sarah stared at him defiantly. "I hope that slap brings you to your senses. I'm going hnow."

This tZachary just watched without stopping her, but when Sarah drove away, he followed in his own car.

On Cypress Avenue, rush hour traffic flowed in a steady stream.

Sarah drove calmly, repeatedly catching glimpses of the black Porsche Cayenne in her rearview mirror. He

stubbornly followed behind her.

Growing irritated, she suddenly yanked the steering wheel, changing lanes to overtake another car. She didn't

want to see his vehicle anymore.

But as she switched lanes, the black Cayenne did the same.

She should have continued straight, but at the next corner, she made a sharp right turn, feeling a moment of

satisfaction seeing the car behind unable to make the turn in time.

The next second, she watched as his car suddenly made a U-turn right after crossing the intersection. A truck

barreled toward him.

Sarah's heart skipped a beat. She slammed on the brakes!

"Zachary!" she screamed.

Her vision blurred, and when it cleared, she saw his car following her again.

After that sudden terrifying moment, once she'd regained scomposure, she immediately got out of her car

and rushed to Zachary's vehicle.

"Don't you realize you almost just—"

"Almost what?" Zachary asked casually as he stepped out of his car.

Sarah shook her head, tears hanging on her lashes. "You really are insane."

Seeing Sarah's trembling shoulders, Zachary knew she'd been frightened. He pulled her into his arms. "I'm fine."

The comforting scent of cedar enveloped her, and her rapidly beating heart finally steadied.

Realizing her position, she pushed Zachary away. "Don't... don't stand so close. | know about your engagement.

What do you want from me?"

"Sasa, | told you to always trust me. Things are resolved now. Do you still believe in me?"

Sarah didn't know how to answer. She had always trusted him-it was he who hadn't trusted her.

She lowered her eyes in disappointment. "I'm going home."

She didn't answer Zachary's question or say anything more, just turned around, got in her car, and drove home.

That night, the November air was bitterly cold-cold enough to freeze your hands even through gloves.

Sarah tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep.

Zachary had followed her all the way home, but she hadn't asked him anything, just went straight upstairs. She

wasn't sure if he'd left.

It was so late-surely he must have gone by now?

After much deliberation, she finally got out of bed and pulled back the curtains. The black Cayenne looked

mysterious in the darkness, illuminated only by streetlights.

He was leaning against the car door wearing a black coat, lifting a cigarette to his lips, taking a drag, then

exhaling a cloud of smoke.

The white misty rings were particularly visible beneath the streetlight.

Seeming to notice her gaze, Zachary turned and waved at her.

Sarah grimaced and quickly closed the curtains.

The cold wind howled, making the windows rattle. Already unable to sleep, she now felt even more agitated.

Not just because of the wind, but because of the madman downstairs.

She yanked the curtains open again. Zachary was still in the sposition, with several cigarette butts

scattered around his feet.

In just that short time, he'd smoked so many cigarettes.

She threw a coat over her shoulders and hurried downstairs.

Zachary's face lit up. "Sasa, it's too cold out here. You should go back inside."
