Before the voice on the other end could even speak, that male werewolf, Gene, burst out laughing
loudly. “Aubrey! Drop the act! Do you think flashing your alpha brother’s nwill fool everyone?
Let’s be real- you're just an omega. The only reason the alpha didn’t make you Luna is because he
pitied you. Instead, he made you his sister!”
The surrounding beta werewolves let out approving snickers. Gene pressed on, his tone even
sharper. “Otherwise, with your lowly status, how could you possibly becpart of the Miguel
family? You know Mr. Fray? Don’t makelaugh!”
He gavea look full of disdain, echoed in the eyes of those around him.
Before | could answer, he frowned atas though baffled. “Aren’t girls supposed to be kind? Why
are you so vicious? Mariana and | have already offered you compensation. You could have just
accepted it and moved on! Why insist on making her an omega? Is it because you’re lowborn
yourself and can’t stand to see anyone else doing better?”
“Funny,” | said with a cold laugh. “The alpha made the decision to punish her, yet you don’t dare

“And for the record, the reason she was punished was because she tried to pushinto a pool filled with
concentrated wolf poison. I'm an omega-exposure to that concentration would have left my skin blistered and
rotting. I'd have died in unimaginable agony. Sure, she failed in the attempt, but the intent was deadly. She got
exactly what she deserved.”
“If everyone could commit attempted murder and get off with just an apology, then by that logic, could | do the

| can win an argument even when I'm in the wrong-so when I'm in the right, there's no contest.
Gene's face flushed bright red, and under my unwavering stare, the onlookers began to avert their eyes one by
one. No matter the situation, torturing an omega to death was universally recognized as cruelty.
In the silence, Wolf Doctor Fray’s voice finally cthrough the phone.
“Ah, little one, | remember now. Yes, a student named Mariana contactedbefore. She paid two million for a
bit of core information on the T-flu virus.”
Fray chuckled twice before continuing, “You know me, | don’t involve myself in these matters. But don’t worry,
about you-"
“Then is she a student of that mysterious wolf doctor who cracked the T-flu virus?” | cut in before Fray could say
something he shouldn't. “Mr. Fray, I've got a few hundred werewolves here waiting for your answer.”
The moment | spoke, Mariana’s face went pale. On the other end, Fray went quiet for a beat.
In that pause, Mariana gritted her teeth, shoved Gene aside, and dropped to her knees beforewith a loud
thud.
“Aubrey! I'm not trying to escape punishment! | lost my temper and acted without thinking. | made a mistake,
and wrong is wrong! I'm sincerely apologizing to you. If you won't forgive me, I'll stay here on my knees
forever!”

She lowered her head again, slamming it to the ground with force, and again, over and over, making
the crowd gasp.
“Aubrey! I’m sorry! If you forgive me, I'll pay you ten million in compensation, and I'll never appear
before you again!”
Her voice was so loud it nearly drowned out the phone call. Rolling my eyes, | turned my phone’s
volall the way up. “Mr. Fray, go ahead. Everyone here can hear you.”
The moment | spoke, Fray’s voice cthrough crystal clear-
Nonsense! Mariana, a student of that wolf doctor? With her abilities, she’s not even worthy to
mention their name!”
