Astel POV.
The guard bowed his head and left the room, closing the door behind him. I let out a sigh of relief and relaxed in
the chair. The past few days had been hectic, filled with meetings and negotiations. | had been trying to form
alliances with spowerful packs, but for sreason, they all kept rejecting my offers.
| was starting to feel frustrated and a bit anxious. | needed to make these alliances. work, or else my pack would
be at a disadvantage.
1 chewed on the end of my pen, staring at the paper in front of me. The thought of considering Alpha Kex pack
looked terrifying, and I couldn't help but feel a little afraid.
| tried to push the thought of Nelly and Aisha out of my mind. | couldn't care less about either of them. What
mattered was my pack and our safety. | had to do whatever it took to keep us safe.
| needed to cup with a new plan, or else my pack would be at risk. | had to find a way to get these packs on
my side, without having to resort to asking Alpha Kex for help. He was a ruthless leader, and | knew he would
demand something in return for his assistance.
| needed to find a way to gain the upper hand, to give myself sleverage. But what could | do? | wracked my
brain, trying to think of something, anything that would givean advantage.
| sat there, racking my brain for ideas, but nothing cto me. Finally, | decided to ask Carl for help. | stood up
and headed for his room, but as | approached, | heard moans. coming from inside. | hesitated, not wanting to
interrupt whatever was going on in there.
| decided not to disturb them, and turned to walk away. But then | heard a familiar voice, one that | knew all too
well. My heart started racing, and | leaned my ear against the door, trying to hear better.

It was Shantel, and she was calling for Carl. My world seemed to stop, as | stood there,
breathe, like my heart was about to burst out of my chest.

As | opened the door, the two figures on the bed scrambled to cover themselves with blankets.
“Who....” Carl began, turning to face me, anger

But as he saw who it was, his words died in his throat. His eyes widened with fear, and he froze, unable to move.
| stood there, feeling the sfear, the sshock and disbelief. | couldnt believe what | was seeing. What had
| just walked in on?
“What the hell is this?!” | shouted, unable to control my rage.
“I... | can explain,” Shantel stammered, but | cut her off.
“Explain what?” | asked, my voice rising with every word. “That | caught you sleeping. with my best friend? You
cheated on me!” | yelled, and she kept her gaze lowered, avoiding my eyes. “Answer me!” | screamed, and she
finally looked up, her eyes meeting mine.
But it was Carl who spoke next. “Don’t talk to her,” he said, his voice firm. “Speak to me. She is innocent.” |
stared at him, dumbfounded. Was he really trying to defend her? Did he really think | would believe her?
“Are you kidding me?” | asked, my disbelief clear in my voice. “You expectto believe that? But | don’t have
tfor this,” | said, my anger turning to disgust. | fixed my gaze on Shantel.
“You're a traitor, a whore,” | said, my voice cold and hard. “You lied to me, and | believed you. | rejected Nelly
just because of you, because you toldshe was evil, that she was a curse, that’s why our parents died, and
her brother went missing.” | could feel my voice rising, my words coming out in a roar. “And all this time, you
were lying to me. You were sleeping with my best friend!”
“It's not what it looks like,” she pleaded, her voice shaking. But | wasn’t going to fall for her excuses.
“Don’t tellthat,” | snapped, my voice icy cold. “If you say that again, | swear I'll. strangle you with my bare
hands and feed your corpse to the rogues.”
My words were harsh, and | could see the fear in her eyes. “What is it | haven't done for you?” | asked, my voice
tight with emotion. “I've provided everything you wanted, I've gone as far as making you my Luna.”
| regret every bit of it now, | had given her everything, and she had betrayed me. How could she do this to me?
“I'm sorry,” she pleaded, her voice shaking. But | was beyond the point of forgiveness.

“Can sorry change anything?” | asked, my voice tight with anger. She was silent, and | could feel my irritation
rising.
“How long has this been going on?” | demanded, but no one answered. | paced the room, my frustration
mounting. Finally, | couldn't take it anymore. “Can someone please answer me?” | said, my voice weary and thin.
I needed an answer, and | needed it.

“The day that Aisha and Nelly left,” Shantel muttered. | turned to look at Carl. My anger was bubbling over, and |
could barely contain it.
“You bastard!” | yelled, slapping him hard across the face. He staggered back, looking shocked and hurt.
| realized that he must have been my best friend once, but | could see why Aisha had left him so easily. He was a
liar and a cheat, and he had betrayedin the worst way possible. | couldn't forgive him, not after what he had
done.
“You're a coward,” | said, my voice shaking with anger. “I consoled you every day when Aisha rejected you, and
this is how you repay me?” | struck him again, my anger boiling
over.
He laughed, but it was a hollow, mocking laugh. “Are you in pain?” he asked, his voice dripping with venom. “It's
all your fault,” he said. | was confused, and | couldn't understand what he meant.
“What do you mean?” | asked, my voice trembling.
“If you hadn't sold Nelly to Alpha Kex, Aisha would still be here with me,” he said, his voice raw with pain. “She
wouldn't have rejected me.”
| couldn’t believe what | was hearing. “So you're blaming me?” | said, my voice shaking with anger. “Is that why
you cheated on me?”
| lunged at him, ready to attack. Shantel tried to pullaway, but | was too strong.
“Someone help!” she screamed, and the door burst open. The guards draggedfrom him, and | struggled
against their grip.
The guards let go of me, and | straightened my shirt, my heart still pounding in my chest. “Lock these traitors
up,” | ordered, my voice cold and hard. “I turned and walked out of the room, my fists clenched at mys
sides.
