Chapter 1839
The whole Isaac ordeal was finally behind them, so Adler and Jenna threw a little shindig back hto celebrate.
But honestly, it was just an excuse to get everyone together, catch up, and swap stories.
Fiona and Alec were at the table, looking a bit bored while the adults indulged in a bit of nostalgic boasting about
the good old days at the Aldridge Estate.
"Remember Colby in his prime?" Adler said, laying it on thick. "Back then, just his presence overseas was enough
to make people quake in their boots! Can you believe he's now a stay-at-hdad?"
Adler shook his head, chuckling, "Tsure has a way of changing things, doesn't it?"
Fiona leaned over to Alec, whispering, "Will your dad ever stop with the tall tales?”
She'd heard these stories so many times she could probably tell them in her sleep.
"Old folks and their stories. Just eat up," Alec replied with a grin, adding more food to her plate.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtFiona kept muttering, "Griffin never has stories like that. He hardly says a word." "Yeah, Griffin's the quiet type,
always has been..."
Not too far away, Griffin and Odie were sipping their drinks, catching bits of the kids' chatter, and exchanged
amused glances.
These youngsters had no clue what things were like back in the day. If they did, they'd think twice before joking
around.
"Fiona, chere," Odie called out.
Fiona dutifully made her way over, asking, "What's my gift this time, Odie?"
"How about a friendly pat on the back?" he joked.
Everyone was a bit tipsy by now. Odie nodded towards Colby, who was pouring
water for Sophie, and asked, "What's your take on your dad, Fiona?"
"My dad, huh," Fiona mused. "He
treats Mom really well, but he's not much of a chatterbox. He's a bit more good-looking than your average
middle-aged guy, but that's about it."
Colby wasn't into much but seemed to know a bit about everything. Back when Fiona was a kid, he was like
every other dad, doing school runs and taking family trips during breaks. Mostly, he and her mom were two peas
in a pod. .net
From Fiona's perspective, not much had changed over the years. Sometimes, she thought her dad was just plain
dull.
Odie and Griffin couldn't help but laugh hearing Fiona's take on Colby. With the drinks flowing, they didn't hold
back.
Who'd have thought the once-daring Colby would be summed up by his daughter as just a handsome, ordinary
guy?
"I remember when Colby took down
a guy barehanded, just by twisting his neck.
ven,
nothing scared us. We risked it all to survive. That time, Colby saved your skin, Odie, with just a razor, taking out
ten guys solo. Remember?" Griffin chimed in,
uncharacteristically chatty.
How could Odie ever forget? There was this small-tgang, and Mr. Elwood sent him to scope out a barbershop
that was actually a front. When things went south, the gang caught him.
