188 Instant heaviness
For the first time, Marvin didn’t find the youngsters, who were about the sage as his cousins, annoying.
The atmosphere turned awkward as the students mischievously jeered at them.
Helpless to the situation, Sarah grabbed Marvin by the wrist and took them out of there. Marvin's gaze fell on her
delicate fingers wrapped around his wrist.
With one deft movement, he flicked his hand, slipping it from her hold, and intertwined their fingers together.
Caught her!
Sarah didn’t even notice. She was too focused on escaping their raucous audience.
“Sarah, | haven't eaten yet,” Marvin said, playing the pity card yet again.
“Then go hand eat. Didn't Vance hire a five-star chef for you? He lives right next door to your place, doesn’t
he?” Sarah didn’t fall for his act.
“Sarah...,” Marvin began, his tone turning serious, his expression a little pensive. “Are you angry atfor
kissing you? Is that why you're so hostile tonow?”
“I'm not...” Sarah drifted off, her brows furrowing as she looked for the right words to say. Whenever Marvin
acted like this, she felt like a bully who was unnecessarily hurting the feelings of someone experiencing cognitive
difficulties.
“If you're not angry at me, that means that you don’t hate me, right? Then why can’t you accept me?”
“That's not how relationships work, Marvin.” Sarah sighed.
Suddenly, with a swift movement of his arm, Marvin drew Sarah close and embraced her firmly. His hold
resembled that of a mighty dragon fiercely protecting its treasure, filled with intense anticipation and
possessiveness.
He nestled his face against her neck and coaxed her. “Sarah, you're not dating anyone right now. How about
givinga chance?

Sarah found herself involuntarily tightening her fists.
She had suffered betrayal from Quincy, leading to the ruin of her family.
Once bitten, twice shy.
She lacked the courage for a second attempt.
Sarah confessed that she didn’t dislike Marvin at all. In fact, she started to feel a warm connection to him as they
spent more ttogether.

He showed no mercy to his enemies and was tough
on
his subordinates, but he had always treated her with kindness.
It was as if he would always be there to watch over
her.
However, the man before her was the powerful Marvin.
He was too dangerous.
Sarah's instincts whispered that it might be wise to limit her interactions with this man. Spending a month with
Marvin was enough for her.
She remained silent, wearing a stern expression, determined not to give in.
“Then I'll pursue you.” Marvin added, “Even if you don’t allowto do so, | will still pursue you.”

Sarah snorted in anger.
“Whatever. I'll head back to the dorm, and you can leave on your own. Make sure you don’t disrupt the school’s
rules once more.

“I won't leave.” Marvin refused without hesitation.
What was the point of him going back alone?
“Aren’t you going to pursue me? Have you forgotten the basic principle of pursuing a girl?” Sarah asked, her face
devoid of
emotion.
“What basic principle?” Marvin had never chased after someone before, so he was completely clueless about it.
“You should listen to me.” After saying that, Sarah turned around and was about to leave.
“Wait.” Marvin grabbed her wrist.
“What are you doing? Don’t follow me. I'll get mad.” Sarah's face twisted with a brewing storm of anger as she
frowned.
“I will leave after we have dinner together,” Marvin ventured.
He couldn't allow Sarah to leave at this moment.
If she headed back at this point, there was a good chance she’d cross paths with Marcelo.
“Are you bargaining with me?” asked Sarah.
Marvin simply gazed at her in silence, resembling a dog scolded by its owner without understanding why.
Sarah, feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, gave in and said, “Okay, let's have dinner together. You must leave
then.”
The warm shower water cascaded over her, snapping Renee back to reality.
As she remembered the events of the past hour, she couldn't help but see them as truly ridiculous.
She could hardly believe she had just had a standing intimate encounter with Marcelo in the alumni guesthouse
of her old school.
What upset her the most was that she had been stripped naked, but Marcelo had been almost completely
dressed from beginning to end.
“Rat-a-tat!”
Marcelo waited patiently for Renee to cout of the bathroom. Eventually, he couldn't resist and knocked on
the door. “Renee. Open the door and I'll help you take a shower.”
“Almost done. Don’t push me.”
After putting on her clothes, Renee walked out of the bathroom.
Seeing her in her sweater and casual pants, Marcelo smiled. He couldn't help but reach up and tickle her chin
like he were scratching a kitten.
“Why are you wearing this? Are you being cautious around me?” he inquired.
Renee snorted. Granted, she was being cautious because of him.
She then got to the point. “Marcelo, we need to talk.”
“Talk about what?”
As they moved towards the sofa, Marcelo wrapped his arm around her waist and seated her on his lap.
“Let go of me. | need to discuss serious matters with you,” Renee hissed.
“We can talk like this as well.”
Marcelo, having been intimate with her only once and still feeling unsatisfied, clung to her to quell his longing.
Renee wriggled her body twice, attempting to get off him, but he held her in place.
“Renee, if you keep wriggling, | might end up punishing you in a way you don’t want.”
Marcelo rested his chin on her shoulder. As he leaned closer and made his warning, the desire in his dark eyes
burned even more intensely than before.
Instantly, Renee stopped moving, not daring to provoke him further.
“Last month, Vivian faced a career crisis due to a temporary contract issue with a big show's brand. You
requested Anna’s help to resolve this, didn’t you?” she asked.
“Yes.” Marcelo asked curiously, “How do you know?”
Only a few people who were directly involved with the case were aware that he was the one responsible for it.
“You assisted Vivian, even though you were aware that her temporary breach of contract issue almost ruined the
very first major show | ever hosted?” Renee gazed down at her fingers and said coldly.
Marcelo’s expression grew serious. “Did she breach her contract with Light?”
“Don’t tellthat you don’t know she broke the contract with Light.”
“Anna is dealing with this matter. | don’t know the specific situation,” He explained.
He was truly unaware of it.
He understood that Renee had joined Light for work when she went to Estoqua, but he had no idea that Vivian's
partner was also Light.
Vivian didn’t tell him and he was not interested in probing. It seemed like a flawless response. He delegated the
matter to his employee without understanding the situation’s specifics, and he didn’t bother to inquire about the
identity of the other woman's partner.
However, Renee felt unhappy.
Once again, she felt wronged, but couldn't confront Marcelo just because he wasn't directly responsible.
Renee felt an instant heaviness in her heart.
She attempted to rise from his lap, but he gripped her tightly once more.
