The comments were still running wild.
“Vivian, can you clear the confusion? Con!”
“Mr King, why don’t you introduce your wife to us? We will all send wedding presents! Then you can hold a
wedding reception!”
Before returning to her dormitory, Renee stopped at the convenience store to buy water.
“Renee, wait!” called the cashier, who was a part-tstudent at the store. She took out two cups of milk tea
with a mischievous smile.
“Last night, a super handsman askedto give these to you she said, holding the cups out to her.
“Who?” asked Renee, taking the cups from her.
“I don’t know. He didn’t tellhis name.” The cashier glanced at the milk tea and suddenly cried, “Oh no!

The milk tea was kept outside for too long and had becrancid.
It was no longer fit to drink.
“It's okay. Thank you,” Renee said and walked out of the convenience store.
She chucked both the cups into the trash can.

The milk tea had soured over time, much like her relationship with Marcelo following his belated announcement

“Are you still not going to tellwhy?” Marcelo hissed.
He and Jessica had argued all night and morning.
He confronted her about why she hid the medicine, but she pretended to be sleepy and dozed off to avoid the
conversation.
But, to her surprise, when she woke up, she found Marcelo sitting on the edge of the bed.

clutching the quilt. She looked helpless and innocent.
Marcelo was so angry that he laughed.
He had waited so long to get an answer, but her motive turned out to be ridiculous!
She had risked her health for a man who she thought was her husband!
Of course he couldn't blher. Since her mental state had gone bad. She kept regarding Paul as her husband.
It was as if she totally forgot that her husband had passed away.
Even if Marcelo tried to understand her, this still felt annoying.
As soon as he walked out of the ward, Vivian rushed to him in tears “I'm sorry, Marcelo. | didn’t mean to bring
you so much trouble. I'm sorry!”
She didn’t sleep all night. Ever since he posted on T***¥*r, it had been hell for her.
She had becthe laughing stock of the city. Everyone was talking about her like she was a clown!
More importantly, she had unwittingly pushed Marcelo to announce his marriage!

“Take her away!” Marcelo ordered his men and turned away to avd contact with Vivian.
“Marcelo! Marcelo, please!” she cried.
She wanted to chase him, but his bodyguards restrained her.
Outside, Luke started the car. “Mr. King, shall we go to the office?”
“Taketo Bellbanks University.”
“Well... Okay,” Luke said reluctantly. He silently prayed for Marcelo to go to work.
Leaning against the back of the seat, Marcelo closed his eyes for srest, asking, “Have you checked the
medicine?”
Luke replied, “Yes, sir. I've checked it; there is no problem with the medicine under your mother’s pillow. | heard
that Vivian bought svitamin pills that resembled the shape of your mother’s medicine, but the bottle of
vitamins was not opened. | don’t think she has tampered with your mother’s medicine.”
Back at the hospital, Vivian took out an opened bottle of vitamins that she had hidden when Marcelo was there.
After Jessica got sick, one of Paul's confidants gave her an unopened bottle of vitamins, saying, “Miss Lambert,
you owe Mr. King big time.”

Marcelo dialed Renee’s number.
This time, the phone connected quickly. He breathed a sigh of relief.
“Marcelo, are you callingbecause you are ready to divorce me? cRenee's voice through the phone. Her
tone was brusque as if she was pushing him away from her.
Marcelo was stunned for two seconds.
She still wanted a divorce?
“Have you seen...” he began.
“The post on T****+r? | saw it.” She cut in.
Staring at her toes, she explained, “But Marcelo, it is not because of the rumor about you and Vivian that | want
to divorce you. If it’s not Vivian, there will be another woman. People will continue to gossip.”
The gossip was just a trigger.
Her real reason for the divorce wouldn't change even if the rumors stopped.
“This sort of gossip will never happen again,” Marcelo promised solemnly.
In other words, he was refusing divorce.
“Look, if you don’t want people to know that | asked for a divorce, you can initiate it,” Renee offered, aware that
he might feel humiliated by being asked for a divorce, and attempted to help him maintain his dignity.
As long as the goal was achieved, the process was not important.
Marcelo didn’t respond.
Renee could feel his anger radiating through the phone.
She couldn’t understand why he didn’t want a divorce. He didn’t get married to her out of love.
“Did you send the milk tea to the convenience store?” Renee asked, even though she was certain that it was
Marcelo. “It has gone bad. Sthings don’t last long.”

“Are you sure you want a divorce?” Sarah asked, moments after Renee had hung up the phone.
Renee nodded, a sense of resolve in her eyes. “This is the best way can think of to cut my losses,” she said.
The taste of unrequited love was too bitter, too exhausting for her.
From the moment she fell for Marcelo, Renée realized she could not endure the continuation of their loveless
marriage. Now, realizing Marcelo couldn't offer her the love she yearned for she decided to let go.
Marcelo, on the other hand, refused to accept Renee’s decision.
He believed whatever was broken could be mended, even if it meant starting from scratch.
Driven by a stubborn hope, he returned to the milk tea shop, buying the sdrink he had purchased the day
before. Then he went to find Renee.
“Why are you here again?” the dormitory manager asked with a frown. “No matter how many times you come, |
won't let you in!
Without a word, Marcelo pulled out a marriage certificate from his coat and handed it to the manager. The
document bore two names: Marcelo King and Renee Hudson.
“Renee is your wife? She’s married?” The manager's eyes widened in disbelief, scrutinizing the certificate over
and over. “This marriage certificate isn’t fake, is it? You know it’s illegal to forge such documents!”
Marcelo remained silent, offering no explanation.
Skeptical yet unable to prove the document was fake, the manager handed back the certificate, his demeanor
softening. “What's going on? Did you two have a fight?”
