Chapter 1597:
Jacob froze mid-step, his body stiffening for a moment.
“You're concerned, | can see it,” Lawrence said, stepping in front of him with a playful smile. “If you're tired, get
srest. But let's talk tomorrow before noon, face-to-face, okay?”
Jacob didn’t respond, just continued up the stairs.
Lawrence watched him go, uncertainty creeping into his heart.
That night, a wall stood between them, both physically and emotionally.
Jacob lay in bed, restless despite his fatigue, unable to drift off.
He replayed Kristian’s words and thought about Lawrence's situation. If Lawrence had been in real danger that
day, he knew regret would haunt him forever. Deep down, he couldn't deny it—Lawrence meant more to him
than anyone else.
Meanwhile, Lawrence’s mind raced with plans for the next day, thinking of ways to win Jacob back.
Both lay awake in their separate rooms, lost in their thoughts, only falling asleep as the clock neared three in the
morning.
By noon the next day, they woke up almost at the stime.
When Lawrence spotted Jacob, he flashed a warm smile. “Morning!”
“You've got thirty minutes,” Jacob said, taking the lead, which wasn’t easy for him. “After that, I'll have someone
show you out.”
Lawrence paused, then his face lit up with joy. “Deal!” he said, thrilled.
They shared a simple lunch, then got straight to the point.

“Why did you treatlike that back then?” Jacob asked, starting the conversation.

Lawrence had tried explaining before, but it always ended in a mess.
Back then, Jacob's pride clashed with Lawrence's hot-headed nature. Jacob felt disrespected, while Lawrence
thought Jacob didn’t trust him. That sparked constant arguments, driving a wedge between them.
“I figured I'd handle my parents first, then explain everything to you bit by bit,” Lawrence said earnestly,
admitting his fault. “I was selfish, thinking you'd trustjust because you were my boyfriend.”
Jacob's gaze was icy, unyielding.
“There's more,” Lawrence hurried to say. “I realized later that trust works in normal times, but in that moment, |
should've been upfront with you. | was too caught up in my status and future to think about your feelings,
assuming | could fix it all later.”
He confessed he hadn't been mature, always putting himself first.

Jacob stayed quiet, unsure how to answer.
Lawrence understood Jacob’s hesitation. “I get it—you’re wary because of past pain. Once bitten, twice shy,
right?”
