Chapter 1382: Upstairs, Eileen's mind whirred with possibilities. She leaned back, fixing Jacob with a steady gaze. "Call your assistant now. Insist on the original price for the contract." Jacob nodded, swiftly dialing the number.

Within minutes, Barry's phone rang. As he answered, his face fell, his disappointment evident.

Milford murmured something, and Barry visibly steeled himself.

Jacob observed the scene below, a hint of admiration in his voice. "Milford's a tough nut to crack. Only Eileen could outmaneuver him." He then gestured for a waiter to reset their table. As chairs were pulled out and menus presented, Eileen and the others began to order.

Milford and Barry also settled in, diving into their meal while continuing their discussion.

Eileen positioned herself by the window, keeping a watchful eye on the proceedings below. She saw Milford shrug off his jacket.

His shirt, tucked haphazardly into his waistband, gave him an almost boyish appearance.

The allure of the restaurant's offerings seemed to awaken a hearty appetite in both Milford and Barry.

What they had ordered was enough for three, but Milford and Barry quickly finished it.

Then, Milford said something that brightened Barry's mood considerably. He waved the waiter over, ordering more food with newfound enthusiasm.

Seeing this, Eileen allowed herself to relax slightly. “If Milford knew the lengths we've gone to, he'd be livid,” she said.

Phoebe shook her head, frustration evident in her voice. "It's frustrating to help someone in secret. When he finally decides to cback to us, I will definitely get back at him for this." Bailee took a careful sip of water before saying, "That seems harsh. He's still finding his way. We shouldn't risk crushing his spirit." Phoebe scoffed. "At twenty? He's already an adult. Only a handful of years separate him from you. If he continued to do this, he'd likely be contemplating marriage soon." "And who would arrange that?" Jacob queried, reaching for a cigarette. But before he could light it, Bryan snatched it away, tossing it in the trash.

Jacob was stunned for a moment. Then, his eyes widened in understanding as he caught Bryan's meaningful glance toward Eileen.

He said, "Ah, right. No more smoking." He then leaned forward, asking Eileen directly, "After you give birth to the child this time, you won't have another one, right?"

"Why are you askingthat?" Eileen asked, her brow furrowed in om the dots-what did the number of her children have to do with Jacob? what couldn't quite connect

Jacob chuckled softly, leaning back in his chair. "Your pregnancy, my dear, has turned out whole world e upside down. No smoking, no drinking, no loud noises-it's like the rest of us are pregnant right along with you!"

Phoebe immediately said with a nod, "He's right! Before we chere, Jacob and I even took a shor and changed clothes because of you. We met with a client this morning who reeked of smoke."
