Upon hearing that, Winnie abruptly raised her gaze toward Josiah. “Are you saying that his condition
might change?”
Josiah wasn’t sure either. “I was just guessing. However, I won’t be surprised if he ends up addressing
you as his mom when he wakes up tomorrow.”
Winnie was rendered speechless. She let out a sigh and closed her eyes before resting her head
helplessly next to Xavier’s arm.
She had been very busy the past few days, so she fell asleep within seconds.
Seeing that she had fallen asleep so quickly, Josiah went to the cabinet to get a blanket and put it over
her.
Although his movements were very light, he had still woken Winnie up.
Winnie was in disbelief when she noticed that Josiah had put a blanket over her.
“Did I fall asleep?” she asked.
Josiah tucked his hands into the pockets of his white coat and nodded. “You’re too tired. Rest for a
while, okay? I’m going to the lab.”
“I’ll go with you!” Winnie immediately stood up and followed him. “Before this, I was going to bring back
some of the samples. However, I’ve nearly forgotten about it after going to the police station. Let’s go
together.”
“Sure.” Josiah nodded. While walking, he asked, “Where are you sending the samples to? The hospital
or the research institute? I know a few of the good research institutes in Avenport. My mentor and
seniors are there. I’m planning to get them to help me. If you’re also sending the samples there, I can
just do it for you.”
“Oh? I’m sending the samples elsewhere. My plan is to send the samples of the venom to the First

“First Institute of Applied Toxicology in Yartran?” Josiah was startled. “Are you sure they’ll accept the
samples? From what I know, that research institute is unlike the others. It’s very difficult to contact
them.”
“Yes. The First Institute of Applied Toxicology is a world-class organization. Ordinary people won’t be
able to contact them directly. However, I’m not an ordinary person.” Winnie shot Josiah a determined
look and said, “Trust me, okay? I’ll get it settled.”

While they were both walking toward the lab, Xavier suddenly opened his eyes.
After taking the samples of the venom from the lab, Winnie made a call on her phone.
She used at least three languages when she was on the phone. In the end, she managed to get the
matter settled.
Josiah was also an expert in languages. In fact, he knew a few foreign languages himself. He
understood what Winnie said on the phone. “How did it go? Is everything okay?”
“Yes!” Winnie kept her phone. “However, I don’t think it’s wise to ship something like this out of the
country. It seems like I’ll have to go back to Yartran personally in the next couple of days.”
Josiah noticed the words she used. “Did you say go back? Did you stay in Yartran back then?”
“You can say so.” Winnie didn’t want to discuss her past at that moment. “We’ll talk about that next
time.”
Since she had already said so, Josiah dropped the topic. “In that case, I’ll stay here and see how things
go. Ring me up if something happens to Xavier.”
“All right. You should get some rest as well. Don’t wear yourself out!” With that, Winnie left the lab.
When she got back to the ward, she found that Xavier had gone missing.
“F*ck!” Winnie cursed when she saw the empty bed and the hospital gown nearby. I’ve only been away
for less than an hour, right? Did Xavier wake up and escape? His suit in the closet has also gone
missing. Did he get changed on his own? He really doesn’t seem like he’s out of his mind!
Winnie called Josiah immediately, and they both went to the control room to check the surveillance
footage.

elevator.
She frowned and turned toward Josiah. “Why did he go to the eighth floor? What’s on the eighth floor?”
“Nothing’s there!” Josiah was puzzled. “However, my office is on the eighth floor.”
“Are you saying that he went to your office? Why did he go to your office? He doesn’t remember you,
no?”
“I have no idea.” Josiah then turned toward the security guard and ordered, “Quick! Switch the channel
to the surveillance footage on the eighth floor.”
The security guard played the surveillance footage on the eighth floor from an hour ago.
Indeed, Xavier had walked into Josiah’s office as though he owned the place.
Moments later, he was seen walking out of there. Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary.
“What did he do?” Winnie asked. “Do you have surveillance cameras in your office?”
“Of course not. Who would install surveillance cameras in their own office? Look! He went into the
elevator again.”

A few minutes later, the surveillance footage showed a black car driving out of the parking lot.
Josiah pointed at the car plate and said, “That’s my car! What the f*ck? He went to my office to get my
car key! What on earth is he up to? Is he able to drive already?”
“I don’t know!” Winnie was worried about Xavier’s safety on the road. “Have you installed a GPS
tracker in your car? Check the car’s location now.”
“Wait!” Josiah immediately whipped out his phone.
As soon as he unlocked the phone, he cursed, “F*ck!”
Winnie got worried when she heard that. “What is it? Where’s the car now?”
“Sh*t! I have two phones. I don’t have the software on this phone. I need to get the other phone from
my office.”
“What are we waiting for? Let’s go!”
Just like that, the both of them rushed to Josiah’s office.
Despite searching for the phone everywhere, Josiah couldn’t find it. “What’s going on? I left it in my
drawer. I didn’t move it.”
Winnie furrowed her brows. “Could it be that Xavier had taken it? Call the number, will you?”
Josiah quickly called his other phone. However, an automated voice told him that the phone had been
switched off.
At that point, Josiah was on the verge of going crazy. “What the f*ck is this? What the f*ck is going on?
How are so many coincidences happening at once?”
Winnie rubbed her eyebrows and suggested, “Maybe we should get the police to track the car plate.”
With that, she took out her phone.
Just when she was about to call Christopher, her phone rang.
It was a call from a landline in Avenport.
