Winnie did not believe that Zyon was her cousin.

He did not have the birthmark that Jacinta was looking for, and that was something she had checked a

long time ago.

Nevertheless, the fact that he might know something could not be ruled out.

At the thought of that, Winnie scrunched up her brows.

She kept the gun trained on the back of Zyon’s neck and said, “It looks like you’ve done your research.

You even know that my granny’s looking for her grandson.”

“Of course.” Zyon gave her a smile in an attempt to appease her. “I did say we’re cousins. Of course I’d

know about my grandma—”

“Shut it.” Disgust rose into her throat when Winnie heard Zyon call them cousins.

As she put more weight on the gun, she snapped, “Stop saying revolting things like that!”

“Okay, okay. I know you’re a ruthless character, but everything I’ve said is real. If you don’t believe me,

you can ask your granny about it. How else do you I think I was able to—”

Right in the middle of Zyon’s sentence, Jacinta bolted over. “Shut your mouth right now!”

Even Xavier and the others ran over as well.

The moment they arrived, they trained all of their guns on Zyon.

Zyon dared not even take a breath too deep. As he lifted his hands, he slowly turned toward Jacinta.

“Grandma, hurry up and tell my cousin to let me go. I’m your real grandson. You can’t let your bloodline

die with me. You’ve been looking for me for so many years. Are you going to watch your granddaughter

kill your grandson?”

“Shut up and stop your nonsense! Who’s your grandma? You’re really saying everything you can just to

stay alive, aren’t you?”

Jacinta had only helped Zyon because she wanted her kin to live. However, ever since he had taken

her hostage on the boat, everything else he did only made her heart sink.

She knew that her relationship with her grandson was not fated to be.

That was exactly why she did not wish to lose her granddaughter.

If her granddaughter were to find out that she was the one who started the fire back at the Fairchild

residence to kill Rufus and that she was the one who let Zyon go and planned for Zyon to kidnap her,

her granddaughter would never forgive her.

Moreover, her granddaughter might even cut ties with her, and that was something she did not wish to

see.

That was why she had made up her mind to keep Zyon’s mouth shut for the rest of her life.

It’s not like he’s a good soul either. The crimes he has committed will earn him several death

sentences.

With that thought in mind, Jacinta took out the pistol she had been hiding in her pocket. She had taken

it from a dead person.

With a bang, she fired the first shot she had ever made in her life.

However, she was unskilled in shooting, and hence, it was a miss.

Instead of hitting Zyon, the bullet scraped past his shoulder and buried itself in the ground behind him.

Nevertheless, the action of firing was no longer as unfamiliar to Jacinta when she fired the second and

third shots as the two bullets struck him.

The moment the bullets went into Zyon’s chest, Zyon widened his eyes in disbelief. He could not

believe that an elderly woman who called herself his grandmother would be the one to end his life.

Zyon was not the only one surprised. Winnie and Xavier were equally taken aback as well.

“Granny!” Zyon was no longer in any capacity to pose a threat to anyone, so Winnie kept her gun away

and walked over to Jacinta.

When she saw her grandmother’s hand trembling from the recoil—even her body was shaking—she

pulled her into her arms.

“Are you okay, Granny? Give me the gun.”

“Winnie!” Jacinta began crying. “I didn’t want to kill him, but he reminded me of the painful times when

he kidnapped me. He promised me that he would let me and Rach go once we were in the open sea.

He even called me Grandma because I’m an elderly woman. But he’s just an animal! He’s even worse

than an animal. Not only did he vent his anger on us, but he even forced Rach to… He took advantage

of poor Rach. When I think about what he has done, the only thing in my head is my desire to kill him. I

want to tear him to shreds!” Jacinta glared at Zyon, who was lying in a puddle of blood.

At the same time, she slowly raised the gun in her hand again.

She had missed Zyon’s vital points because of her unfamiliarity with the gun. However, she was certain

she would be able to deal the fatal shot this time.

By then, Zyon was bleeding out from the wounds in his lung. The blood filling his nose and mouth was

almost stopping him from breathing, and he could not talk either.

All he could do was stare at Jacinta resentfully with his bloodshot eyes.

At that very moment, Jacinta’s heart softened.

Zyon shared almost identical eyes as her. Staring at the struggling, dying Zyon reminded her of herself

from decades ago.

She was unable to fire the third shot, but she also knew that Zyon was not going to survive until the

next morning came.

“Winnie, can we go?” Jacinta did not want to stay to watch her own grandson die.

“Okay, I’ll bring you home.”

Right as Winnie said that, a red dot appeared between her brows. Someone had aimed their gun at

her.

“Get down!” Xavier shrieked when he saw the red dot. He pounced at her and pushed her to the

ground.

Winnie fell, and the bullet missed her. Almost simultaneously, the people noticed a car coming toward

them.

It was the jeep that had parked by the entrance of Zyon’s building. The people on board were in

cahoots with Zyon.

“We have no bullets left. Let’s go!” Mason shouted as he dragged Jacinta to the car.

Meanwhile, Xavier helped Winnie up.

“Get in the car now!” As Xavier pushed Winnie forward, he surveyed their surrounding.

Winnie, however, stopped by the car door. “Zyon, I need to make sure he is—”

“I got it,” Xavier interrupted before turning his head and firing one last shot at Zyon.

The spot he shot at was fatal.

Both Winnie and Jacinta saw it.

Jacinta still could not forget the look Zyon gave her before he died. She was in a daze, but soon, she

convinced herself of an alternate truth to relieve herself of the guilt.

She told herself that she was not the one who killed Zyon and that Xavier was the one who did it.

Xavier’s the one who killed Zyon. He’s the one who killed my grandson. He’s the one at fault!
