Winnie inspected the photo carefully again. Just like Mason had pointed out, there was a banner on the

ground at the left of the photo. The writing on the banner was in the Chanaean language.

Mountains could be seen in the distance behind Greta. The buildings at the foot of the mountains

portrayed the architectural style of Chanaea.

“You’re right,” Winnie affirmed. “This looks like Chanaea. Is Greta Chanaean?”

“I don’t know.” Mason shook his head. “We’re outlaws. I don’t ask about her past if she doesn’t bring it

up. Please help me find her. I beg you. I’ll do anything for you in return. Even my own life is at your

disposal!”

From the way he had carefully wrapped the photo up in plastic before keeping it safely in his pocket,

Winnie could see that Mason’s feelings for Greta were quite deep.

Winnie herself had a good impression of Greta. Because of that, she was willing to help Mason out.

However, before she could agree, she received a text from Lisanne.

Lisanne: Winnie, help him but negotiate with him. Didn’t you tell me that Greta had been in the same

car with Christopher the entire time? She didn’t go to the balcony after that, and she disappeared after

you guys left. Christopher’s body was also never found. I have a feeling that these two cases are

related. Perhaps Christopher didn’t die! Perhaps she had taken him away!

When Winnie saw the message Lisanne sent, her brows inched together into a frown.

She had witnessed Christopher’s fall onto the roof of the car with her own eyes. How could he have

survived a fall from such an immense height?

Winnie brushed Lisanne’s theory off, deciding that Lisanne was just in denial of the fact that

Christopher had sacrificed himself.

However, she would not deny the possibility that Greta had taken Christopher’s body away.

At that thought, Winnie immediately helped Mason up. “Let’s have a seat before discussing this further.

I’ll agree to help you look for Greta in Chanaea, but there’s something that I need to ask you.”

“All right. Just ask me anything.”

Winnie nodded slightly. “I’m sure that you’re aware of the fact that your subordinates are helping me to

look for my friend’s body?”

“I’m aware of it, but there doesn’t seem to be much progress. Did they not report to you?”

“They did.” Winnie’s forehead creased. “But as you said, there hasn’t been any progress.”

“It’s not an easy task. Every year, many people tend to disappear in that area, much less a dead one.”

“In that case,” Winnie began, “I’d like you to repeat the whole scenario of that day to me again. Where

were you and Greta respectively? What were the defense plans? Tell me everything.”

“Of course. On that day…” Mason began to recount the incident.

After Winnie had heard the complete story, her expression became solemn. “From what you have said,

Greta did not go to the balcony at all. According to your plans, she was supposed to be on the ground,

waiting to catch me. Yet when I got there, I did not see her. From that day onwards, she seems to have

vanished into thin air.”

“That’s right.”

“Okay.” Winnie nodded thoughtfully. “I got it. I’ll help you look for her, but there’s something that I need

your help with. The fact that you can find me means that Harold can too. I might not be lacking in

protection, but they play by the rules. You and the people in your community are more daring. I need

you to be my bodyguard temporarily and protect me from the shadows.”

“Deal! As long as you promise me that you’ll look for Greta, I’ll even kill Harold for you if you ask me to!”

Winnie waved her hand to dismiss his idea. “This country is nothing like Manchernius. The people here

abide by the law. No one can break the law as they wish. Also, stop the hijacking nonsense. Do you

have an ID card with you? How have you been going about these few days?”

Mason lowered his head. “I have a passport, but I don’t have any money. I’ve been sleeping in the

public parks.”

“All right. I’ll give you some money as well as a phone in a short while. Freshen yourself up nicely. For

now, find a place to stay, and I’ll send someone to find you and discuss Greta’s matter. I’ll inform you

when there are any further plans.”

With that being said, Winnie immediately got on the phone and started dishing out orders.

Soon, Jasmine appeared with a folder. Inside the folder was a phone as well as some cash.

Winnie handed the folder to Mason before walking him into her personal elevator.

By the time she returned to her office, Lisanne was already waiting for her at the door.

“Winnie, when are you guys going to start looking for Greta? I have a feeling that Christopher is not

dead. He could have been taken back by Greta to be treated.”

Winnie furrowed her brows. She believed that Lisanne was being delusional. Winnie thought that it was

more likely for Greta to have buried Christopher’s body rather than healed him.

After the incident, she hired someone to investigate every single hospital in Yeringham, but not a single

one of them had documented a patient who had fallen off of a building.

It was even more unlikely for Greta to have taken Christopher with her back to Chanaea.

It was hard enough for Greta to come to Chanaea on her own, let alone take Christopher along with

her.

“Lisanne, I think you’re being too optimistic. Greta is a sniper. Perhaps she had seen something that we

didn’t notice when she was in hiding to protect me. The only thing we can do now is to find her. I won’t

lie, but the chances of finding Christopher alive are very, very small.”

“But maybe,” Lisanne replied with hope in her eyes, “there really are miracles in this world.”

Winnie could not bring herself to crush Lisanne’s hopes. She nodded. “Maybe. Either way, I’ll send

someone to look for Greta as soon as possible.”

“Mm-hmm, the more the better. I believe you’ve taken a photo of the photograph he had shown you.

Send it to me. I’ll ask Lucas to help with the search too.”

Winnie sent the photo to Lisanne and both of them headed out to find Lucas.

The Marsh family was a prestigious family in the field of sea transportation.

By the time it reached the two generations of Lucas and his father, the Marshes had already developed

their ship-making company into a company that invented all means of transportation for shipments on

land, sea, and sky.

That was one of the reasons Lucas could have so many resources and connections across all nations.

Another reason was that Lucas was a friendly extrovert and enjoyed making new friends. He seemed

to be able to get along with anybody.

Even so, his best friend had always been Winnie. After all, the two had known each other since their

days in school.

Hence, he was overjoyed to see Winnie.

Especially since he saw that Winnie had brought his sister back.

“I miss you so much, my dear queen! I haven’t seen you for so long! Come now, give me a hug!” Lucas

stepped forward and wrapped Winnie in a warm embrace.

Winnie allowed him to hug her for one second before pulling away. “I’m a married woman now. Can’t be

too close to another man now.”

“Tsk!” Lucas tutted. “You seem to have forgotten how to let your hair down. All right then, take a seat.

You wouldn’t have visited me if there are no problems. The fact that you’re here means that something

is troubling you.”

The moment they talked business, Lucas became serious.

They first mentioned the search for Greta before bringing up Harold.

However, the moment Lucas found out that Winnie planned to lure Harold out physically, he

immediately argued.

“It’s a no go. That’s a terrible setting. I’ll get a bunch of reporters and ask them to expose our affair

behind your husband’s back. I guarantee that you’ll be trending all around the globe within seconds.”
