Before Winnie could scold Lucas, Lisanne whacked the latter’s head.
“What are you saying? Stop shooting your mouth off. When we previously asked you to pursue Winnie,
you declined. What type of ludicrous idea do you have this time?”
Lucas placed his arm on Winnie’s shoulders. “I can’t handle women who are too assertive. Only Xavier
has the luck to get together with Winnie. Moreover, Winnie and I are purely best friends. It’s the kind of
friendship that will last even after we are married to our respective spouses.”
Lisanne rolled her eyes. “Winnie is already married. Who are you going to get married to? Do you even
wish to get married?”
“Of course. Am I not dating right now?”
“I’m speechless. Are you sure you’re dating? I’m pretty sure you’re just fooling around.”
“How can you say that? I am sincere and genuine with every single girlfriend. I haven’t gotten married
because I am not that attracted to any of them. Neither of them is as attractive as Winnie, nor are they
as talented as you.”
Winnie huffed as she brushed off his arm. “Keep your hands off me, playboy. You don’t need to care
about what I’m going to do. I just need you to instruct someone to keep an eye on immigration.”
“All right. I’ll have it done. What do you guys want to have for lunch? I’ll treat you.”
Lisanne did not hold back at all. “Let’s have a feast. You haven’t treated me to a meal since I came
back. I’ll bleed you for every penny I can get.”
Lucas chuckled. “Do you really believe that one lunch will leave me destitute? Obviously not!”
He turned to ask Winnie, “What about you, Winnie? What do you wish to eat?”
Winnie glanced at her phone and answered, “I must apologize. I have an appointment.”

Winnie rolled her eyes at him. “This is called spending time together to improve our relationship. You
only know about checking in. Your girlfriends must be checking in on you daily. I’m going!”
“Let me take you there.”
“There’s no need. We don’t have to stand on ceremony with each other.” With that, Winnie stood up
and left.
After she left Lucas’ office, she gave Xavier a call.
“I’m coming to your company’s cafeteria for lunch later.”
Xavier was slightly surprised. “Cafeteria? Do you not want to go to a restaurant? Why do you suddenly
wish to eat at the cafeteria?”
Winnie smiled. “I want to clear the air since I saw the news. Didn’t Wilhelm disapprove of our union? I
noticed you have been receiving harsh criticism from the netizens. They claimed that you are way out
of my league, so I’m here to help you today.”
Xavier chuckled. “Help me? Why do I need you to help me in Fairchild Corporation?”
“That’s right. I will let your employees see that you really got a woman way out of your league!”
Xavier’s tone was light and affectionate. “Sure. It’s an honor to have you at my office.”

Fairchild Corporation’s employees all knew about the existence of Winnie.
Winnie had just stepped foot in the lobby on the first floor when Xavier called her.
“I have a short meeting, so I’ll get Louis to pick you up. You can’t press my personal elevator from the
first floor.”
Under normal circumstances, Winnie would not bother him if she knew he had meetings.
However, she wanted to bring attention to herself that day.
She rejected his suggestion, “Why don’t you come and get me personally? What kind of meeting is
more important than me?”
Xavier was momentarily stunned before he jolted back to his senses and smiled. “Okay. I’m coming
down to pick you up.”
Winnie beamed. “Then, what about your meeting?”
“What do you think? Of course, I’ll make them wait. I’m already out of the office.”
With that, Xavier personally came down to the lobby on the first floor to pick up Winnie.
The lobby receptionist immediately broadcasted the news to the company chat.
She sent: Mr. Fairchild even delayed his meeting to pick up Mrs. Fairchild in his personal elevator!
Also, Mrs. Fairchild held Mr. Fairchild’s hand right after Mr. Fairchild came downstairs. They are so
intimate with each other!
By the time Winnie and Xavier went to the cafeteria for lunch, the company chat had exploded.
Am I seeing things? Mr. and Mrs. Fairchild are eating in the same cafeteria as us!
I-I just saw Mr. and Mrs. Fairchild queuing together! Mrs. Fairchild is so pretty! Her skin looks flawless.

Hahaha! The news reported how their marriage was in shambles, but they seemed to be very lovey-
dovey with each other.
Meanwhile, Xavier was confused by Winnie’s strange actions. “Why did you suddenly think of helping
me? It’s so sudden.”
“Why? Are you unhappy?” Winnie cast a glance at Xavier.
Xavier smiled brightly. “Why would I be? Do I seem unhappy to you? I like how you’re behaving today.”
“What is it?” Winnie was influenced by Xavier’s smile, and the ghost of a smile appeared on her face.

thinking? You only come here to have a meal with me because you have an agenda.”
Winnie grinned as she fed Xavier some water. “Calm down. I’m here to discuss some matters with you.
I respect you, so I’m here to ask for your opinion before I make any decisions.”
Xavier looked at her in disbelief. “Sure. Go ahead. I’m listening.”
Then, Winnie proceeded to tell him how she planned to use herself as bait to lure Harold out. She also
told him about how Mason had found her and what had transpired subsequently.
Xavier’s expression darkened after he heard that.
“You have already made a decision. Do you understand what a discussion is?”
Winnie could not help but laugh at how fast Xavier’s expression changed.
Xavier got even angrier. “Why are you laughing? This is a serious matter.”
“Okay, okay. I won’t laugh anymore. I’ll be serious,” said Winnie. She sat up straight and told him the
excuses she had said to Lisanne.
She added, “Lisanne supported me even though she was unhappy about it. You will support me too,
right?”
Xavier glared at Winnie. “I don’t care about her. Why do I have to support you just because she did?
She’s not my wife! You are! Why do I—”
Winnie was afraid that Xavier would ramble on and interrupted him, “All right. All right. Let’s not talk
about her. I want exposure on the Internet too. Fairchild Corporation is not enough. How do you think I
can do this?”
Xavier replied petulantly, “Of course by using money!”
