Chapter 384

“What are you talking about? Now that you can't see. Mr. Fairchild doesn't like you anymore! On top of

that. I'm much younger than you, you old hag!”

Winnie couldn't help but find it amusing when she heard that. It had been a long time since she had

argued with someone. Despite Abigail claiming to be eighteen, Winnie felt as though she was arguing

with an eight-year-old child.

Xavier made his way over before she could even say anything in response.

Although she couldn't see the look on liis face, she could clearly sense that he was boiling with anger.

She turned around and reached her hand out.

That was something that she had been doing a lot lately to let him know she needed liis attention.

It was incredibly effective too as shown by Xavier walking up to her and holding her hand within

seconds.

“There's no need for you to get mad. I can take care of tliis myself,” Winnie said while tugging on his

hand.

Xavier shot Abigail an icy-cold glare and said with a frown. “I don't get mad at people who accuse me

of things I haven't done. All it takes is a phone call or two to teach them a lesson they won't forget.

However, I will not allow tliis b*tch to talk to you like that!”

Winnie gave liis hand a squeeze and asked with a smile, “What would you do to her, then? Give her a

few slaps?”

They both knew that Xavier didn't like hitting women.

Winnie let out a chuckle as she continued, “I'm not angry at her either, but what she said is tine. I am

indeed unable to see, and I am much older than her.”

Xavier couldn't stand hearing Winnie talk about herself like that. “Don't say that. Winnie.”

Winnie gave him another tug on liis hand. “All right, then. Let's sit down somew'here. I'd like to have a

little chat with this young lady over here.”

Fearing that Winnie would get upset, Xavier said. “Actually, we could just let the butler handle this.”

“It's fine. I was getting a little bored from having nothing to do anyway. Why won't you let me ask her a

couple of questions? Are you feeling guilty or something?” Winnie asked half-jokingly.

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Xavier gave her a light jab on the forehead before sitting her

down on the couch in the bedroom.

When Abigail saw Winnie sitting down elegantly like she owned the place. Abigail decided to stand up

to make herself feel more confident.

However, Mary wras quicker and had two housekeepers pin her down.

“What do you think you're doing? You'd better behave yourself! If I recall correctly, you're only in charge

of keeping the garden clean! You have no right being here!” Mary reprimanded her.

Hearing that made Winnie a lot more certain that Abigail had come prepared.

However, she had another question for Abigail before asking about her motives.

“Mary, how did someone like her get hired in the first place? Did she not undergo training beforehand?

Does she not know7 that she isn't allowed into guest rooms and the master bedroom?”

“I...” Although it was Abigail who broke the rules. Mary was not one to blame others for her own

mistakes. “I'm sorry, Mis. Fairchild. I should have kept a closer eye on the mansion. As for training, she

indeed has not received the training due to our negligence.”

Winnie arched an eyebrow when she heard that. “Oh? She gets such special treatment, hull?”

“You could say I was the one who allowed her to skip the training,” Xavier piped up.

“What?” Winnie frowned and turned her head in Xavier's direction. “Are you saying that you two knew7

each other long ago?”

“No, not really. One night, I couldn't seem to fall asleep, so I w7ent for a walk in the garden. I wras

strolling through the garden when I stumbled upon her. She recognized me instantly and expressed her

gratitude toward me,” Xavier said, making no attempt to hide it whatsoever.

“What was she thanking you for?” Winnie asked in confusion.

“I'm not sure if you remember tliis, but I had a driver who died in a car accident. You and I were both in

the car when it happened,” Xavier said.

That was when Winnie understood what he was trying to say. “Yes, I do remember. Are you saying

she's the daughter of that driver? Is she here as an intern or something?”

“I think so. I let the butlers take care of the driver's family, so I haven't interacted with them in private.

That encounter with her in the garden was the last time I ever spoke to her. I have no idea how she got

inside last night,” Xavier explained.

Winnie nodded and shifted her attention back to Abigail.

“If I recall correctly, your family name should be Shasnow. I remember your father. He was an honest

and disciplined man. You, on the other hand, did not inherit those characteristics of liis. Not only have

you been dishonest, but you have also made a lot of baseless accusations. You see. I don't believe a

single tiling you said earlier. My husband and I w7ould never mistreat any of our conscientious and

responsible employees. My husband paid your family a huge amount of money as compensation after

your father passed aw7ay. On top of that, we also sponsored your education fees fully and let you

w7ork here without having to go through the strict hiring process and systematic training procedures.

We provided you with so much to make life convenient for you, and yet, you climbed into my husband's

bed and tried to ruin our relationship. The law7 may not be able to punish you for your immoral

behavior, but I can. I hereby inform you that, starting today, the Fairchild family will no longer provide

your family with any further financial support. You will also no longer be hired by Fairchild Corporation,

Garland Group, and all of our subsidiaries.”

Winnie then turned to Mary and said. “Get her and her stuff out of here. Also, make sure to do so in a

high-profile manner. I wrant everyone to know7 that nobody can threaten my position as the lady of tliis

house. I don't want anyone else getting any funny ideas just because I can't see.”

Because Abigail was still very young and inexperienced, she didn't find Winnie's statements

threatening at all.

“Pfft! So what? I'm sure I'll be able to find a job after I graduate from university!”

Winnie flashed her a faint smile as she replied. “I wish you the best of luck, then.”

All the decent businesses out there have some sort of connection with the Fairchild family, so Abigail

will soon realize the severity of her situation when she enters society.

Having received Winnie's orders. Mary quickly instructed the housekeepers to drag Abigail aw7ay.

“Hey! Let go of me! I can w7alk on my own!” Abigail protested while struggling with all her might.

Not wanting to hear her annoying screams, Winnie said. “Let her w7alk, then.”

Abigail snorted defiantly after the housekeepers released then grip on her. She glared daggers at

Winnie as she said. “You really trust your husband that much, hull? There are no surveillance cameras

in tliis room! How7 w7ould you know7 for sure if everything I said was a lie?”
