Chapter 413

Something's wrong with the vehicle. Bailey was sure her car was not performing as it should.

As if he could sense the sudden change in Bailey's mood, Artemis tilted his head to look at her and

asked with knitted eyebrows, “What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”

“Somebody messed with the car in an attempt to get me killed,” replied Bailey through gritted teeth

while a cold glint flashed across her eyes.

Artemis' face immediately hardened after he heard that, for he knew exactly how dire their situation

was then. “What's the problem?”

Bailey shook her head in response. “I don't know for sure yet, so I'm driving slowly to see if I can find

out what the cause is. Unfasten your seatbelt. If anything happens, you'll be able to jump out of the car

to save yourself.”

Artemis hurriedly reached out to unfasten Bailey's seatbelt before doing the same to his.

How can I not be moved when he always puts me first? Bailey could not help but turn to smile at

Artemis after what he did for her. “Artemis, if I decide to throw my life away and step on the accelerator,

will you die with me?”

“Why would I want to die when I still have so much to do in this world?” questioned Artemis rhetorically

with a raised eyebrow and a chuckle.

Bailey laughed heartily because she could not agree more with the man. He's right. Why would we

want to die when there's so much to live for? How can I leave this world when my children are still so

young?

“Look, everyone! Bailey's car stopped for some reason.”

“Are you blind or something? It's obviously still moving but at the pace of a tortoise.”

“You're right. It really is moving as slowly as a turtle. That weirdo is going to ruin Dexter's perfect

record!”

“What is she thinking driving so casually? Does she actually think she owns the International Racecar

Tournament?”

“Damn it! I'd give anything to slap that woman. Or better yet, I'll pull her out of the car and take her

place.”

“If she loses, she'll bring shame to the entire Chanaea.”

In the VIP area, Zoey clenched her fists as her forehead sweated bullets because, unlike the other

spectators, she knew Bailey was not fooling around. Why is she driving so slowly? Did she find out?

“What did your friend do to the car?” Zoey secretly asked the bodyguard in black beside her.

Pursing his lips, the bodyguard then replied, “I heard it had something to do with the braking system.

Once the car gets hot enough, the heat will cause the system to malfunction.”

Zoey's pupils instantly shrank when she heard that. “That idiot! Why use heat to trigger the

malfunction? How will the car get hot enough now that she's slowed down?”

“Well...”

When she saw how lost for words the bodyguard was, Zoey got so upset that her entire body shook.

Just a minute ago, she had been confident that things would play out the way she imagined. “That

b*tch must be slowing down because she realized somebody messed with the car. She's probably

trying to find out what's wrong now.”

“That can't be true. My friend knows all about racing cars, and he told me only experts could tell that

the vehicle had been tampered with, not an amateur like Bailey,” responded the bodyguard with tightly

furrowed eyebrows.

At that moment, Zoey got so furious that the veins on her forehead popped out. There's no other

explanation. That woman must be an expert.

For some reason, the name of the Legendary Racer, Adhira, suddenly crossed Zoey's mind. She can't

be Adhira, can she? If that's the case, we're fools to tamper with her car. Everyone knows how

passionate Adhira is about racing cars. She knows the structure of almost every racing car like the

back of her hand. How can she not know when someone has messed around with her car?

“I'm giving you a chance to make things right. Figure a way out to shut your friend up. If necessary, kill

him,” uttered Zoey.

The bodyguard trembled and was hesitant to carry out the order he was given. “Ms. Zoey, why not just

buy him off? We don't actually have to kill him, do we? If we do that, it won't end well for you or me.”

Glaring at the bodyguard, Zoey wanted to curse at him but was not allowed to do so because of her

surroundings. All she could do was speak through clenched teeth. “Only a dead man tells no tale. I'll

give you ten million if you do this right.”

Still, the bodyguard said nothing in response.

“What are you still standing here for?”

“Right away, Ms. Zoey.”

Meanwhile, on the race track, the other nine racers had already covered a quarter of the set distance,

while Bailey was still near the starting line.

Her performance was more than enough to trigger the fans, causing them to hurl insults at her.

Artemis was heartbroken when he saw Bailey sweating bullets, so he suggested softly, “Forget about

the competition. Let's get out of the car.”

“Do you have your phone on you?” asked Bailey, pursing her lips.

Instead of answering Bailey, Artemis simply pulled his phone out of his pocket and handed it to the

woman.

After getting the device, Bailey quickly looked up some information. “It's a controller made in Thymion

that disrupts the braking system when heated. I've already traced it to the office here, so the

perpetrator should be a member of the racing association.”

“So what do we do now?”

“I'm downloading a piece of software to counter and turn off the device.”

Artemis broke into a smirk after hearing that. That's the good thing about having a capable future wife

—I don't have to worry about her.

Ding!

After the phone beeped, Bailey uttered, “It's done.”
