Chapter 160
As the evening's event wound down, Clara seized the moment, positioning herself right behind Dylan. "Mr. Dylan,
I've got something | need to ask you."
The business partners had just finished their polite goodbyes and said they'd wait outside. Aiden wasn't too
happy about it, but he played along, leaving just Clara and Dylan in the room.
Clara couldn't hold it in any longer. "Mr. Dylan, if I've ever done anything to upset you before, please don't take it
to heart. My dad always says you're as forgiving as a saint, and | was probably just really childish back then."
Dylan silently spun the glass in his hand. Clara quickly filled up two glasses with wine. "I'll take this as an
apology."
The gossip she'd heard had her all jittery. If she really had crossed Dylan in the past, he must've had legendary
patience for not having reacted.

She knocked back a glass, then another, and another. Dylan glanced at the bottle, noting the high alcohol
content meant for mixing. Even the heaviest drinkers would feel the impact after three shots.
Clara felt the burn in her belly after those drinks. The first one had already hit hard, but she couldn't back out
now. Setting the glass down, a wave of heat rushed through her. She leaned on the table, shaking her head to
stay clear- headed.
She leaned too hard, the table shifted, and she stumbled toward Dylan. Dylan tried to catch her, but she grabbed
the tablecloth. To avoid the mess, his wheelchair rolled back, and he caught her in his arms.
Clara felt the room spin. The next thing she knew, the wheelchair tipped, and she ended up sitting on Dylan's
lap. Dylan, looking sharp in his suit, now had his shirt partly undone, revealing his collarbone. Clara felt a chill
and instantly sobered up.
Just as she was about to get up, the door swung open. The people outside, worried by the noise, peeked in. The
business partners and Aiden stood at the doorway, taking in the scene. Dishes were on the floor, the wheelchair
flipped, and Clara was seemingly straddling Dylan.
Dylan frowned, clearly uncomfortable. The partners were stunned for a moment, then hurried over. Everyone
had had a bit to drink, so they spoke freely. “Ms. Clara, that's not right. You can't be so rough!"
"Yeah, you just said you wouldn't hurt Mr. Dylan. At this rate, you'll be all over him soon."
"Ms. Clara, you should keep your cool. Even if Mr. Dylan isn't interested, you shouldn't force it."
Clara's cheeks flamed as she tried to stand. In her rush, she didn't realize she still held a piece of his shirt,
popping the remaining buttons off with a clatter.
Dylan frowned again, turning his head, and after a few seconds, he said hoarsely, "Please, don't."
The words seemed to confirm the partners’ suspicions. Clara was overstepping boundaries. Aiden grabbed Clara
by the collar, his forehead vein throbbing with frustration. “Clara, you said you have no ulterior motives, but here
you are acting shameless!"

Though Aiden wasn't fond of her, he rarely spoke so harshly. Clara was at a loss for words! She watched Dylan
clutch his torn shirt, trying to cover his chest. Oh great, now she looked even guiltier.
"No, | just drank too much," she blurted out. The business partners, all a bit tipsy, weren't used to seeing Dylan
in such a vulnerable state, and they got a bit bolder with their comments.
"Drinking isn't an excuse for bad behavior. We guys know how it is. If you're really drunk, you wouldn't be
interested. It's the liquid courage kicking in."
Clara felt even more dizzy, taking a moment to digest the situation. She saw Aiden helping Dylan up, righting the
wheelchair, and making Dylan seem like the victim.
Clara bit her lip and, on impulse, said, “What am | supposed to do then? It's not like | can take responsibility."
Dylan's fingers paused, but he stayed quiet. The partners shook their heads. "Honestly, that's classic
heartbreaker talk."
"Yeah, I've used that line when I didn't want to get involved with a woman."
Clara was drenched in cold sweat, desperately trying to explain, but Aiden blocked her path, standing next to her
like he was afraid she'd make another move on Dylan.
