Chapter 166 The Secret of Dragon’s Hill

Just then, Joey arrived and stumbled across the tense scene.

She did not expect the kidnappers to have guns on them, and she was even more stunned

to find Caspian confronting the kidnappers as well.

However, her focus was on the critical situation. The kidnappers were already firing their

weapons. Caspian and Carla were in danger!

At the most crucial moment, Caspian crouched to the ground and brought Carla down with

him.

The bullets whizzed above them.

Macy instantly brought out her handgun and pointed it at the three kidnappers.

As a special forces soldier,

She had a gun on her at all times.

The three men were startled. None of them expected Macy to have a gun!

By the time they noticed what she was holding, Macy had already begun firing.

Three bullets flew through the air.

Since the men posed a threat to Caspian, Macy was not going to show any mercy.

She could not afford to let anything happen to Caspian.

Naturally, the three men’s reflexes were not as agile as Caspian’s.

By the time the gunshot sounds registered in their heads, they had already fallen victim to

the bullets. Three howls of agony rang out.

Their bodies crumpled to the ground, unmoving.

Upon seeing that, Caspian rushed forward to cover the young girl’s eyes.

He did not want her to witness such a bloody sight.

Joey was also startled by the sequence of events. This was her first time meeting Macy,

and she wondered why the latter had a gun.

Initially, Joey planned on capturing the kidnappers, but in mere seconds, Macy had killed

all

three of them.

Meanwhile, Carla exclaimed in fear when she saw the three men going down.

“Hold your daughter,” Caspian instructed as he brought the girl to Carla.

Joey immediately rushed forward.

Meanwhile, the abruptness of Caspian’s earlier attempt to save both himself and Carla

from the bullets caused his wound to start aching.

“Caspian! Are you alright?” Macy asked in concern when she saw Caspian standing up

great difficulty.

“I’m fine. The wound just got stretched a bit,” Caspian said.

It was only then that Macy recalled that Caspian had saved Joey by shielding her from a

bullet.

“Why did you kill them all?” Joey angrily questioned Macy.

“Should I let them kill us instead?” Macy retorted curtly.

Under those circumstances, things would have gone south if she did not react in time.

“Where did you get your gun from?” Joey interrogated.

“It’s none of your business!” Macy shot back icily.

“I’m the head of the Inspector General’s office in Southlake City, so how is it not my

business? Go on, test me. See if I don’t arrest you right here, right now!” Joey fumed.

Macy’s arrogance had surprised her.

Even though Macy saved the young girl, she also killed three men.

In Joey’s eyes, what Macy did was also a crime.

“You’re under suspicion of illegally possessing a firearm, and you’ve also killed three men.

You need to come with me to the Inspector General’s office for further investigation,” Joey

said as she got ready to handcuff Macy.

Macy was not someone who would take that lying down.

Joey became even more furious. She even brought out her gun.

Feeling somewhat flustered, Caspian swiftly explained, “Calm down, both of you. Joey, this

is my comrade–in–arms, Macy Osborne. She’s also a special forces soldier, so she has the

right to carry a gun.”

If he did not jump in to clarify the situation, he feared the two women would come to

blows.

Joey’s expression stiffened. She did not expect Macy to be more than just an ordinary

citizen.

“So what if she’s a special forces soldier?” Joey scoffed scornfully.

“What’s this? Are you looking down on Diatoran’s special forces? Why don’t we see who’s

stronger, huh?” Macy retorted.

“Quiet, both of you!” Caspian snapped.

Both women were stubborn as mules!

Still, even though they could not stand each other, Caspian was beside them, so they

stopped fighting.

Meanwhile, Carla was still crying as she hugged her daughter.

Once she calmed down a little, she expressed her gratitude toward Caspian. If not for

Caspian and Macy, her daughter would have been taken away.

When Macy dealt with the three bodies, she found something strange.

They were about 30 miles away from Southlake City’s city center. Few people came to this

area.

Yet, it looked as if someone had gone digging through the valley. Judging from the traces

left behind, it had been quite a major project.

With everything that had been happening lately, Macy kept her eyes out for anything and

everything that seemed unusual. The moment she spotted something, she would do her

best to get to the bottom of it.

Macy went forward and studied the traces carefully.

Joey followed her.

“What’s going on here? How strange!” Joey remarked after seeing the marks.

As she came from the investigative division, she had keener senses.

The two women checked the surrounding area, and soon, they found an underground

passage behind a dense thicket.

“What’s this?” Joey exclaimed.

Caspian came over to take a look.

The passage went on without end.

“How unusual. Could there be some kind of underground tomb here? Did someone come

over to rob it?” Macy suggested.

“What a load of nonsense. How can there be a tomb in a place like this? Since it’s a fairly

large mountain, I guess there could be mines in there,” Joey said after scanning the

surroundings.

“Whatever,” Macy said indifferently. As long as it did not pose a threat to Caspian, she did

not

care what it was.

As Caspian’s wound had split open, he needed to get it treated as soon as possible.

Since the crisis was over, they left Dragon’s Hill.

Macy drove Caspian to Southlake Hosplit ali

After checking Caspian’s Injury, Avon was horrified “What’s going on with you, Caspian?

Why did your inferry worven again?

“We ran into something just now,” Caspian said somewhat awkwardly.

He felt bad for repeatedly troubling Avon with his injury.

“Macy! Look what you did! Why did you insist on dragging Caspian out of the hospital to

go gallivanting with you?” Avon snapped.

“Hey, you don’t know what happened. We did something good, okay? We saved a girl from

being kidnapped!” Macy declared proudly.

Still, you shouldn’t have let Caspian’s injury worsen!” Avon retorted without backing down.

“Ugh! You’re so annoying! Can you stop talking? It’s not like I wanted that to happen!”

Macy shot back as she stomped her foot in anger.

That being said, if Macy had not insisted on dragging Caspian out of the hospital, his

wound would have not split open.

Thus, while Avon tended to Caspian’s injury once more, Macy slunk back to the hotel in

dejection.

Ever since Caspian ruined Nicholas‘ face, the latter spent his days wallowing in the Archer

residence.

Nicholas dared not leave the house, and he even thought-

taking his life.

“Darling, I thought of a way to avenge Nicholas!” Nicholas‘ mother, Susan Meyer, said to

her husband, Vince Archer.

“What’s your idea?” Vince asked.

“Southlake Corporation is still going through a difficult period. Even though things have

gotten better for them, it’s still going to be hard for them to go up against Glorious

Group.” Leena assessed.

“If we approach Southlake Corporation with a potential business partnership and use a few

tricks to take the company for ourselves…”

“What are you talking about? How could we possibly take Southlake Corporation for

ourselves? “Xavier asked in confusion.

“We can lure Willow over under the guise of wanting to sign a contract with Southlake

Corporation, and then we can have Nicholas force himself on her!”
