Chapter 447
Once we were home, Jake went straight to bed, I locked the doors and pulled the curtains. Fixing myself a plate
of the soup Charlotte made I parked myself in front of the TV and got comfortable.
Hopefully, he would sleep for a few hours, and no one would cover. | settled for desperate housewives and
grabbed the blanket off the back of the couch to wrap around my shoulders.
Maybe | would sleep for a few hours to or maybe someone would turn up and disrupt my peace. A sigh fell from
my lips as there was another knock on the front door.
| was hoping Jake was already asleep. He needed to rest.
“I'm coming”. | sighed.
Unlocking the door, | pulled it open but stopped her as she tried to cinside. Alanna had a voice like a
foghorn, and I didn’t want her waking up her brother.
“Hey”. She frowned.
“Jake's sleeping”.
“And?”.
“And he needs his rest. He hasn't slept and | don’t need you and your foghorn voice coming in here and waking

“Rude”.
She huffed. “I take it there’s no update yet?”.
“You know more than me”.
“Are you coming by later?”.
“I have dinner plans with my dad before he heads home”.
“He’s going htonight?”. She asked.
“Yeah, he's got a pack to run as well but Ill visit soon”.
“Don’t you start college soon?”.
“Ill visit before then”. | shrugged. “I'm going to go finish my lunch. Catch up tomorrow?”.
“Should we go out?”. She asked
“Out?”
“Yeah”. She grinned. “Like hit the club, have a few drinks
and a dance. We haven't been out in ages”.
“With everything that’s going on?” | made a face. “Do you think that’s a good idea?”.
“Why not and it’s not like we can do anything anyway.
That's what Jake and my dad are for. Con one night Ill even say to Lana”.
“Speaking of | haven't seen her in what feels like forever”.
“Last | spoke to her she was getting things ready for starting college. | can’t believe she kept that quiet. If | knew
you both were going, | would have enrolled”.
“Do you want to go to college?”. | asked.
“Not really”. She shrugged. “But it would have givensomething to do”.
| fought the urge to roll my eyes. “You seriously can’t be moaning because we're going to college and you're
not”.
“So, she told you she was going?”. She frowned.
| nodded. “She wants to do business, open a little boutique one day. I'm excited for her. For the first tin
forever she wants to do something good with her life”.
Lana didn’t have the best upbringing, and her childhood wasn’t the best so the fact that she has her sights set
on something good and on becoming something was huge.
“I just wish | knew so | wasn’t going to be the one left behind. | could have study something”. She sighed.
“You just said you didn’t want to go to college”. | swear she madewant to tear my hair out at times. If I'm
being honest, | don’t think she knew what she wanted half the time.
“And you're not being left behind so stop being ridiculous”
“Well, I am when my best friends are going to college without me”.
This t| did roll my eyes.
“If you really want to go to college then I'm sure your dad could have a word and get you in”.
“That would have worked if Mr Gallagher wasn’t the new dean. For sreason he doesn’t seem to like my
family”.
“He doesn’t?”.
She shook her head. “Personally, | think it's because of you but-...".
