“Has Sheridan been with a man?”

Goldie froze at the question. She did not want to expose Sheridan but thought about what

warranted the question in the first place and asked instead,

“What is wrong with her?”

“1 will call a doctor,” Sheridan’s mother said suspiciously and instantly mindlinked the doctor. With

the

pack hospital not far from the office, the doctor arrived before Sheridan cout of the washroom.

“What's going on?” She asked, shocked to see an extra person in their meeting. A doctor, for that

matter. Goldie was equally nervous. If she had stood up and gone to Sheridan when she went to

throw up, it would have made it obvious that Sheridan’s condition was serious.

“You went to throw up. The doctor is here to ch*ck on you,” Sheridan’s mother said worriedly.

With tight lips, Sheridan frowned slightly at the response, remembering what happened between

her and Alpha Nick. Could she? Sheridan felt hot, her ears and face reddened. “Mom, I’m fine.”

She wanted to do a pregnancy test secretly before seeing a doctor. Should it be positive, everyone

was going to know, and she had to decide whether or not she wanted to break the news like this.

“Let the doctor ascertain that,” her mother insisted, but knowing her resistance was only creating

more suspicions, she relented.

“Fine. Must | follow him to the hospital?” Sheridan asked wearily, already not feeling good about

herself. The nausea was very annoying. Having lived a healthy life all her life, it was strange that

her taste buds even felt like sawdust.

“No. | can take your blood sample and run a few tests,” the doctor smiled. All he knew was that Sheridan was

throwing up, so the best thing would be to run a series of tests as it could contribute to so many other things.

Sheridan did not refuse. They continued the meeting, but she had lost touch with herself. When the

meeting was over, she excused herself with Goldie, as her parents waited in her office for the doctor.

“What if you are pregnant? Will you go back to him?” Goldie asked worriedly, afraid of being alone again,

especially when she had rejected her mate.

Sheridan must have vowed not to return to Alpha Nick, but Goldie felt that things would be different

because of his seed in her womb.

“You know me. | don’t go back on my words. Not when we both signed the divorce papers. | will just raise the

child as mine alone and not worry about finding a mate anymore.”

Goldie was relieved, but then, The Alpha King and his Luna queen were prominent figures who would

not allow Sheridan to give birth without being with a mate. “What about your mom and dad?” She

asked worriedly..Sheridan felt uncomfortable in her stomach.

How she wished to have not returned. Things would have been easier, but since she made a promise to

her father, there was no going back on it.

“I can’t stand the disappointment in their faces.” Her tone was bitter, but there was nothing like regret. This child

was innocent, and she wasn’t going to be sad about him or her.

“So, are you planning to run away again?” Goldie asked in a low tone since that was what Sheridan loved to do

most. Running away from her problems. However, the now resilient Sheridan was ready to face her problems all

by herself.

“I'm too old for that. | would just open up to them if it so turns out that I'm pregnant.”

Goldie smiled. She wished she had a child to call her own too. That way, she would never be worried about not

having a mate.

“How does it feel?” She asked curiously. No matter the situation, having a baby growing was a joyful and

miraculous experience.

Sheridan had a faraway look in her eyes as she thought about the father of her unborn child. Once upon a time,

she left everything for him, but now that she had the power to be with him and have a taste of his kindness, she

couldn't feel the connection anymore.

“I loved him for the greater part of my life. The moon goddess is fair to me. This is payment for all the

love | showed him. If | am carrying his child, then he would never know.”

Yes, this child was the payment for all her sacrifices at the Dark Moon Pack. She never took anything from them,

and yet, she got a treasure in return.

“Sherry,” her mother called from inside, disrupting their secret talk. Sheridan took a deep breath and went back

to the office with Goldie. “The doctor is here.” Her mother turned to the doctor and said, “Go ahead, tell us the

result.”

The doctor coughed slightly to clear his throat. He suddenly had a nervous look all over him, but no one could

put a finger on why he looked that way.

“Alpha King, Luna, can | have a short word with the Pack’s princess?” He asked politely. This was the ruling family

in the pack, and he could not bear to make any mistakes with his diagnosis. Unfortunately for him, the Alpha

King had gotten suspicious of her daughter and the doctor's strange behaviors.

“Just say it here. Is there a problem?” He asked, the doctor spoke nervously.

“I’m unsure of the result because the pack’s princess has not found her mate,” he hinted. Sheridan

was already feeling excited at the revelation. If the doctor spoke about a mate, then it was exactly

what she was expecting it to be..

“Am | pregnant?” Sheridan asked directly, knowing what he was driving at. Her parents

unconsciously glared at her before shifting their gazes to the doctor.

“Tell us what it is. She couldn’t possibly be pregnant, right?” Her mother asked with a worried look.

“Yes, she’s pregnant,” the doctor gave the test result to the Alpha King to look for himself. Her

mother did not bother looking at the document, beginning to chastise her daughter.

“Sherry, how is it possible? Did you find your mate? Why did you hide it from us?” Her mother

bombarded her with countless questions.

“Excuse us, Doctor,” her father finally said, the doctor sighed, hastening to the door, but as he

reached there, he heard a stern voice behind him. “Nob*dy must know about it from you.”

The doctor turned to meet the warning gaze of Sheridan’s father, abruptly responding, “Yes, Alpha

King.”

After the doctor left, Sheila sank into the chair she sat on before, but Goldie stood by her side as

she confessed everything to her parents.

“At the gala awards, someb*dy druggedand the man I slept with. | already punished the person,

but | wasn’t expecting this.”

Her father was slightly happy but was worried about one thing. “This man we are talking about.

Does he have a mate?”
