she really my mom?”

Daniel frowned, skeptical, “But she has a boyfriend.”
He didn’t get why mom’s boyfriend wasn’t his dad.
“If your mom gets a new boyfriend, she won’t come back to me, and you won’t get to see her all the time. Do you
want your mom?” Isaac patiently explained.
Daniel really wanted his mom. After hearing Isaac, he hastily replied. “Yes.”
‘Then be a good boy. I made a mistake before, and your mom hasn’t forgiven me. You behave and stay with her. If
she gets into trouble, you tell me right away, okay?”
Daniel hesitated. ‘So you love mom?”
“Of course. Adult stuff is complicated. I won’t harm your mom. You can move in with her and stay together every
day. Isn’t that nice?” Thinking of Brittany’s warm embrace, Daniel’s emotions stirred, “Well… alright.”
Isaac was pleased. That night, he sent Daniel to Brittany.
Brittany woke up a little disheartened when she saw the note Daniel had left.
Not long after, a young man showed up with Daniel, carrying a bunch of packages. “Ma’am, nice to meet you. I’m
Daniel’s father. I need a favor.”
He pulled out a wad of cash, eyes sincere, and said, ‘Miss, I have a business trip coming up, and I’m really worried
about my son. He likes you a lot. Could you look after him for a while? Just a month at most.”
Daniel stood behind his father, clutching a toy, and looked innocently at Brittany.
He looked like a little lost puppy, curled up in a comer, pulling at the heartstrings.
“Dad? How could you leave Daniel all by himself? And hand him over to me? Aren’t you worried I might harm him?”
