Chapter 613

Over the past five years, Lionel’s name had skyrocketed in Imperial City. He was tough as nails and sharp as a tack,

and any project he set his sights on made him a boatload of money. Then, he was about to tie the knot, and his pick

of the litter was a catch from the Chester family. Once they got married, the two families would have joined at the

hip, raking in the big bucks.

Brittany was ticked off at Isaac for snooping through her stuff. She snapped, “Mr. Salter, ever heard of respecting

people’s privacy? You think it’s a hoot to go through my stuff?”

Isaac’s face fell at her words.

Seeing a fight brewing, Daniel tugged at Brittany’s sleeve and said, “Mommy, I want more food.” Brittany realized

she’d lost her cool in front of her kid, so she swallowed her anger and continued feeding him, “Eat slowly.”

Daniel opened his mouth, satisfied, “Mommy, you’re my favorite.”

Brittany had heard a lot of Daniel’s sweet talk, but she still couldn’t help but chuckle, “Such a good boy.”

Once he was stuffed to the gills, Daniel started hollering for a bath. He had a wound on his head that couldn’t get

wet. Brittany put down her thermos and said, “Daniel, I’ll help you.”

Daniel’s eyes widened, and he shook his head immediately, “No, boys and girls shouldn’t get too close. I’ll do it

myself!”

Brittany was amused by his words, “No, you have a wound on your head.”

If the wound got wet, it could be a hot mess.

Daniel blinked at Isaac, “Daddy, will you help me?”

Isaac looked at his pitiful face and was moved. He took off his jacket, picked up Daniel, and said, “Sure.”

Brittany was taken aback, “Do you know how?”

Isaac didn’t look like the type who’d know how to bathe a kid!

Isaac felt underestimated. He hadn’t bathed Daniel before, but he had bathed Brittany. Wasn’t it all the same?

“Is bathing that hard? I used to always help you.”

“Isaac!” Brittany’s face turned red in anger. She didn’t expect him to say such things.

Isaac saw her angry look, and a smirk tugged at the corners of his lips. Being angry was better than having a poker

face; at least she was showing emotions. And he could feel her emotions.

“Daniel, come with me.”

Daniel hesitated a bit. He was more inclined to Brittany than Isaac. But Isaac didn’t give him a chance to choose, he

picked him up, went into the bathroom with Daniel, and put him in the tub.

“Take off your clothes.”

Daniel stood in the tub, unbuttoning his clothes. Isaac adjusted the shower’s temperature, and after making sure it

was just right, he held Daniel.

Daniel was slow, struggling with his buttons.

Isaac was getting impatient. He reached out and said, “Come here.”

Daniel moved over, and Isaac helped him undress, carefully avoiding the wound on his head as he bathed him.

That was Isaac’s first time bathing Daniel.

Before, their nanny Emily would bathe Daniel. But once he understood the concept of gender, he insisted on

bathing himself. Even if he couldn’t clean himself properly, he wouldn’t ask Emily for help.

Sitting in the tub, his skin was smooth. Isaac didn’t dare use too much force.

Isaac lathered the body wash in his hands, and only when it was fully dissolved did he rub it onto Daniel. Daniel

enjoyed it, closing his eyes, his little face flushed from the warm steam, “Dad, this feels good.”

Isaac responded and quickly bathed Daniel, dressed him in pajamas, dried his hair, and took him out of the

bathroom.

Brittany was lying on the sofa, her back towards them, seemingly asleep.

Isaac put Daniel in bed, signaled him to be quiet, and then went to Brittany.

She was sleeping soundly, her breath even and light.

Isaac bent down, picked her up, and looked at Daniel, “Granny Emily will take care of you later, no fussing.”

Daniel obediently nodded, watched them leave, yawned, and closed his eyes.

Isaac was worried about waking Brittany, so he moved slowly and steadily. After getting in the car, he put her in the

passenger seat, adjusted her seat, buckled her seat belt, and only then did he start the car.

The night was deep. The entire city seemed to be enveloped in fog, with cold air seeping into the car. Brittany

mumbled something, probably feeling cold.
