Chapter 699

Brittany glared at the man before her. Her loathing for him was unmistakable as she asked, “What are you doing

here?”

Isaac couldn’t take his eyes off her. When he’d found out that Brittany had left Imperial City, he’d nearly lost his

mind.

He’d scoured the entire Imperial City, only to find out Brittany had returned to the suburbs. He didn’t dare waste a

single second, rushing over to her immediately.

“I missed you.”

Brittany frowned, “Get out. You’re not welcome here.”

He had no place being where her grandmother had lived.

Isaac knew she had visited the cemetery. He knew she despised him. Struggling to his feet, his eyes turned red, “I

can give you anything. Can’t you…”

“What do you possibly have now?”

Before he could finish, Brittany cut him off, “The Salter family abandoned you long ago. Do you still think you’re the

high-ranking heir of the Salters?”

Isaac gave a wretched smile, “Don’t you hate me? Don’t you despise me? You took the money I had. Aren’t you

satisfied? Don’t you want to continue tormenting me?”

Brittany’s lips pressed into a thin line. Was Isaac out of his mind that he deliberately came looking for trouble?

She turned to leave.

Ignoring the wetness soaking him, Isaac grabbed her, pulling her into his arms. His body temperature was unusually

high.

“Bri, I can give you anything…”

He continued, “Don’t leave me, don’t leave me… I don’t want a divorce, please.”

Isaac’s pleading was soft, his breath reeking of alcohol mixed with a sobbing sound, ringing in her ears.

A nameless hand seemed to squeeze Brittany’s heart tightly, causing a pain that made her shudder.

“Isaac, are you sick? We’re over; what else do you want?”

“No…” Isaac held her tightly, “We’re not over. You can hate me, okay? It’s my fault that your grandma died. You…

you can do whatever you want. Just don’t leave…”

His grip was strong, and the drizzling rain felt like steel needles, causing a piercing pain.

Brittany struggled fiercely, punching his chest again and again, her strength increasing. Isaac winced in pain but still

refused to let go. Brittany’s temper flared, she kicked his leg and pushed him away while he was wincing in pain.

“Bang!”

Isaac fell to the ground again, unable to muster the strength to get up.

He lay on the ground. His stubble and the shadows under his eyes, all highlighted his downfall.

Brittany had no patience for his drama, so she pushed the door and left straight away.

Isaac lay on the ground as the rain began to pour. He raised his hand to cover his eyes, unable to make a sound.

Brittany was soaked from the little escapade. She made a pot of hot water.

Daniel came down after his bath, wearing a soft dinosaur pajama set, looking adorably obedient.

“Come here.”

Brittany handed him the water, “Have some water first. Mommy needs to take a shower upstairs. Don’t go out,

okay?”

Daniel saw her all wet and rushed her to take a shower upstairs, afraid that she might catch a cold.

When Brittany got out of the bathroom and changed into dry clothes, she caught sight of the man lying outside in

the courtyard.

The rain was pouring heavily, splashing up water as it hit the ground.

Brittany chose to ignore it, pulled the curtains shut, went downstairs, and made pasta for Daniel. After they had

their fill, they planned to go to their rooms to rest.

But then, the door opened.

Several people in uniform entered one by one, carrying cleaning supplies. They must have been the ones who had

been cleaning the yard.

“Who are you?”

Brittany and Daniel immediately assumed a defensive posture.

Had they left the door and windows open the previous time? How did those people get in?

“Are you the ones in charge of cleaning the yard?” Brittany stood up, “I’m Brittany, the owner of this property.”

After her granny passed away, the property had been transferred to her name.
