Chapter 809
Lucy had heard the rumors about Lysander and knew of him, but she did not pay much attention to television or
magazines, so she had never seen his picture.
From the moment she saw him, she felt a strong aura of intimidation radiating from him, which made her
instinctively fearful.
She never expected him to be such an influential figure.
After all, how could a nobody like Thalassa possibly have such a powerful man protecting her?
Once Susan mentioned Lysander’s identity, Lucy became pale as a sheet. “I just offended him. Did he say he’s
going to have me arrested? What do we do, Susan? What do we do?”
Lucy’s hand, clutching Susan’s, was shaking. Only now did she understand the gravity of the situation.

the building, filled with jealousy.
“Why does a woman like Thalassa get Lysander’s protection?” She had heard from Bruce that Thalassa had not
even finished college and had worked as a cleaner before.
How could such a lowly woman receive Lysander’s protection?
“I bet there’s something more to their relationship. For a woman with no background to get a man’s protection, it
has to be because of what she can do in the bedroom,” Lucy said, regaining her composure.
“If she can have Lysander, why can’t I?” Susan’s expression was calm, but her eyes revealed her unhindered
ambition.
Lysander, both handsome and accomplished, was perfect in every way. Many women coveted him but did not even
have a chance to meet him.
Yet Thalassa could easily share his bed? And even receive his protection?
“I’m no less than Thalassa. Why can’t I have him?” Susan thought.
A glint appeared in Lucy’s eyes as she understood her daughter’s intentions. Her expression became conniving as
she said, “As long as you get in a good relationship with Thalassa, you can get close to Lysander.”
“Mom, you’re a genius. Let’s head back.” Lucy’s words instantly resolved Susan’s dilemma. A smile appeared on
her face as she walked ahead.
At Thalassa’s house.
Thalassa was sweeping up the broken pieces and had asked Lysander to sit on the couch.
Evelyn, initially despaired and outraged, became terrified upon seeing Lysander. As she was about to host him, she
realized her disheveled appearance. Thus, she quickly went to wash her face and tie up her hair before returning to
see him sitting on the couch with three gift boxes beside him.

time to come here?”
“I brought gifts,” Lysander replied.
Evelyn glanced at the gift boxes again, “You shouldn’t have. That’s too kind.”
She stood more than three feet from Lysander, unsure what to do. After a pause, she apologized, “I’m sorry you
had to see such an embarrassing scene.”
Lysander did not speak, his imposing aura filling the room.
After struggling internally, Evelyn gathered her, courage and said, “I’m really sorry about your grandmother. I just
wanted to discuss your marriage with Thalassa. I told your grandmother that since Thalassa has given you four
kids, you should at least give them a proper family.
Your grandmother agreed to your marriage, too. I did not expect her to trip over the broom. I’m really sorry. I’ve
been blaming myself. If I hadn’t gone to your house that day or chatted with her, maybe this tragedy wouldn’t have
happened.”
Lysander’s eyes were gloomy and icy./
“Mom, stop.” Thalassa dropped the broom and hurriedly stopped Evelyn from continuing.
