Avery could sense Cayden had turned around, but she did not dare to look him in the eye.
“Dylan—Dylan was here in the afternoon. I had a scuffle with him over a small matter, so that button
could have come off from his shirt,” she said.
There was no reason to allow him to interrogate her in that manner when she did no wrong.
“What happened? What did he do to you?” Cayden coldly asked in a low voice.
“We had an argument, that's all. My friend Nina was here when he came, and she did not leave me
alone with him.” Avery finally lifted her head and looked him straight in the eye to explain.
She did not know why she bothered to explain in such details and brushed it off as wanting to be
accountable to the father of her two kids.
After giving him reasonable explanations for the issues that were annoying him, she did not get the
