Elliana smiled, jingling the tassel earring in her hand. Cari was puzzled and quickly felt her earlobe, finding it

bare as she had suspected.

"How did it end up with you?"

"It probably fell when | bumped into you, got caught in my hair."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Watching Elliana turn to leave, Cari involuntarily spoke, "Would you like to sit for a while?"

Yet, as soon as she said it, she wished she hadn't; just as she was about to pull the door shut, she heard a clear,

crisp voice.

"Sure."
