Chapter 495 The Tides Have Finally Turned

Cedrick thought about the time Charles took great care of the pregnant Gwendolyn back in Erihal to the extent that

he was willing to be the children’s father.

However, he was being extra careful. “This isn’t up to me. You should ask Gwenny about it later.”

Charles pursed his lips and smiled while looking at henpecked Cedrick.

Gwendolyn woke up naturally the next day since she was in deep slumber.

She reached out for the clock on the bedside and looked at the time.

It’s over ten o’clock. I guess Cedrick’s at work now.

Rubbing her sleepy eyes, she sat up slowly. Suddenly, her phone rang.

as he said, he’d whip me with a cane. He beat Charles up yesterday, and there was blood everywhere. I’m really

scared, Gwendolyn. Please help me.”

She nestled deeper into Gwendolyn’s embrace and sobbed with sorrow. The thought of what happened to Charles

happening to her sent shivers down her spine, filling her with a deep sense of dread.

-Gwendolyn furrowed her brows when she noticed something important. “Charles was beaten up

yesterday? Why?”

Jasmine stared at Gwendolyn in confusion with tears in her eyes.

“You didn’t know? I sent you a message to ask for your help. Weren’t you the one who asked Mr. Jenson to

save Charles?”

Then, she looked at the time of the message and knew for sure that she was still asleep at that time.

Cedrick must’ve seen Jasmine’s message and went to handle it. Charles should be fine now since Cedrick has saved

Ignoring the matter, she continued to ask, “Did you say that Craig asked you to get a bodyguard to enter Jennifer’s

room alone?”

“Yeah.”

Cedrick had a serious look on his face as he listened to Joshua and read the composition inspection form.

Joshua continued, “This serum is just like the local G7 drug, but the effects are worse than G7’s. It’s meant to inflict

severe mental deterioration on its recipient, subjecting them to excruciating torment. To make matters worse,

anyone who is hypnotized in that state would only become a puppet, devoid of their own

will. Based on information on the dark web, those who have access to this drug are generally overseas aristocrats

who used it on their disobedient slaves. If the slaves wish to be released from the suffering. they’d have to obey in

order to get the antidote. But the substances are too potent. Once it’s injected into the body, nothing, not even

treatments, can truly repair the damage it has done to the nerves. There’s a huge possibility of side effects as

well.”

As Cedrick listened further, his expression grew colder.

“Do you know what the side effects are?” he asked with a sigh as he thought about Treyton who wished for

Jennifer’s recovery.

Joshua shook his head. “Since it’s a forbidden drug from overseas, there’s no way of obtaining any about it here.”

“Okay. I understand. Write everything you said as the diagnosis. Craig’s good days are coming to an end.”

Cedrick’s expression was terribly solemn when he walked out of the lab.

Nico, who stood outside the lab while calling Summer, quickly hung up and dashed toward Cedrick as soon as

Cedrick left the lab.

“How was it?”

Cedrick looked like he was on the verge of exploding in rage. Without saying anything, Cedrick handed the report to

Nico.

Nico scanned the report and snapped, “Is he out of his mind? How can he bring himself to use such a potent drug

on his own mother and sister?”

Cedrick responded coldly, “He has become a monster from the day he started doing whatever he can to become

the head of the Newton family.”

Nico’s expression turned solemn as well. “So, what do you plan to do with him this time?”

Cedrick replied, “We must handle this according to the law. Being the deputy director, his crimes carry even more

weight, doubling the severity of his crime.”

Before long, Cedrick reached his car in his big strides and made his way back to the Federal Bureau of

Investigation.

“It’s best for us to move quietly for now since he has control over two squads. Get Neville and Swain to lead the

squad and prepare for an ambush around five hundred meters away from the Newton residence tomorrow.

Summarize all this evidence in the report, including Jennifer’s proof of injury and his attempt to get Charles to drug
