Chapter 505 The Truth Revealed
Cedrick’s dark eyes glinted with the calm of victory assured.
He glanced at Nico, who was taking notes, and indicated at the latter to record everything meticulously.
Nico nodded tactfully.
Karl began speaking. “Mr. Craig did imprison Mrs. Newton and Ms. Jennifer. He bought a batch of medicine from the
dark web, which are the two vials you’re currently holding. I don’t know what the medicine is called or how it works.
All I know is that he imprisoned Mrs. Newton and drugged her to gain control of the Newton family. Because he has
the backing of the mighty Smith Group, Mr. Craig managed to usurp the power. He once said that since Old Mr.
Abraham brought Mr. Charles back, Mrs. Newton had insisted on being recorded in the family tree and had thus
caused mental instability. With a medicinal regime, it would go unnoticed.”
Nico’s heart filled with rage at those words. He scoffed incredulously.
“He kept that well-hidden. Since he stepped into power, nobody noticed over the years. If not for his increasing
insolence in trying to do the same thing to Jennifer, the secret of the top floor of the Newton residence might never
have come to light.”
Cedrick’s expression turned dark. He rapped on the table. “Go on,” he said coldly. “How did Mrs. Newton’s death
come about?”
Karl sighed sadly. “I don’t know about this. After the welcome party, Mr. Craig ordered me to lead some men to
destroy everything suspicious on the top floor. Mrs. Newton had died at night from an accident.”
Cedrick appeared to be deep in thought. He tugged at the sleeve of his uniform and turned at Nico. “Carry on
listening. Record the time and places carefully. Make sure the notes are organized. Get everybody’s testimony and
place it on my desk.”
“Yes, sir.”
Nico assented. He rose to leave the office and summoned Neville.

ordered.
As soon as Neville left him, his phone rang. The caller ID showed “Darling Wife.”
Seeing those two words, he picked up immediately without hesitation.
“What’s the matter, Gwenny?”
Gwendolyn sounded delighted on the other end. “Jennifer’s psychological evaluation is out, Hubby. There is strong
evidence of her being hypnotized. I have put together the evaluator’s result, and I’m currently at the Federal
Bureau of Investigation.”
Cedrick was surprised. “You’re hand delivering the evidence?”
“Yes. I’m guessing the Federal Bureau of Investigation will not simply grant me entry, though.”
Cedrick went downstairs and ran toward the door. “Stay where you are. I’m coming to get you.”
As he ran, he sniffed his collar for any signs of smoke.
When he arrived at the door, the familiar, slender silhouette was pacing.
He strode over and swept Gwendolyn into his arms.
“You did plenty last night. Why don’t you sleep a little longer instead of delivering the evidence yourself?”
Gwendolyn explained. “Treyton is watching over Jennifer’s drip at the lab, and there’s no point for me being there,
so I thought I would help him deliver the evidence. Here, take a look.”
Cedrick swept a glance over it and smiled. “Great work. In addition to the witnesses and evidence I have on hand,
Craig is going to jail for a very long time for his crimes of abduction and illegal hypnosis.”
Gwendolyn held his cheeks with both hands and planted a sweet kiss on his lips. “Not bad, Hubby!” she gushed.
Cedrick frowned, not looking too pleased.
“Not bad? That’s it?”
Gwendolyn raised her eyebrows. “What else? You might never let me hear the end of it if I gave you any more
praise.”
Cedrick scoffed, then leaned in close to her car. “It appears that you’re not completely happy with me, Gwenny. I’ll
show you a good time tonight. You’ll give me a live-star rating after seeing what your husband is made of.”
She chuckled. Her eyes twinkled charmingly.
“It’s almost noon,” Cedrick said. “Since it’s your first time here at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Gwenny, let
me show you around my office before sampling the cooking of the Bureau’s chefs.”
Gwendolyn nodded and allowed him to hold her.
It was with this intimate manner the couple entered the building. Making their way to the deserted stairwells, they
took advantage of lunch hour for some amorous adventures of their own.
That afternoon, Neville returned from his search of the Newton residence.
This time, he found something in Craig’s office.
Cedrick was looking over the evidence Nico had compiled when Neville placed a small item wrapped in candy paper
on Cedrick’s desk.
“I did not find anything suspicious related to Mrs. Newton’s accident there, but I found something else.”
Cedrick set down the papers in his hand and took the candy paper-wrapped item for a closer look.
He unwrapped it and found a translucent item like a block of sugar.
Cedrick’s beady pupils seared with anger as soon as he recognized it.
“No wonder he changed so drastically to become that unstable. Turns out he’s been dabbling in this filthy drug.”
Neville was similarly grave. The temperature in the office seemed to have dropped frighteningly.
Half an hour later, Cedrick headed for the secret interrogation room on the outskirts of town alone.
Emanating cold hostility, he walked past Charles’ cell and ventured deeper.
Creak.
The heavy steel door swung open.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWith both hands tied onto the wooden frame and a grin, Craig looked up slowly at the approaching man.
“You look like you’re here to start holding people accountable, Mr. Jenson. I’m guessing you have learned the truth.”
When Cedrick announced his arrival, he was tied to the board.
It is plain that Cedrick isn’t going to let me return to deal with the deaths. Instead, he is going to beat me up.
Without a word, Cedrick stepped forward. His terrifying aura filled the cell.
He swung a fist at Craig’s left cheek so forcefully that the latter’s lip swelled at once.
“I can’t believe you took drugs. Spill. When did you start?”
Craig gave an indifferent chuckle as he cast his mind back. “I think it was the time when I became deputy director.
You were strict with me then. For all the difficult missions I’ve completed, you’ve never so much as offered me a
word of praise. When I failed, however, I was subjected to harsh punishment. Sometimes: the pressure was so
immense that I felt imbalanced. In a moment of weakness, I began to dabble. This stuff is potent, too, From the
very first hit, I was helplessly hooked.”
Cedrick grew angrier as the other spoke. He flung the evidence and copies that Nico had compiled into. Craig’s
face.
“Look at all the crimes you’ve committed. You are the deputy director. Aren’t you guilty?”
Craig gazed at the scattered sheets of paper on the ground and smiled indifferently. “It’s done. What good will guilt
do me? It’s no use feeling remorse. You won’t forgive me, anyway.”
It was obvious Cedrick was not going to forgive him.
Breaking the law he had sworn to uphold was sufficient for Craig to be sentenced heavily.
Grabbing Craig by the collar, he demanded, “Let’s talk about Caylie. Did you kill her for the purpose of framing
Charles?”
That was the most heinous offence.
Upon conviction, he would either be imprisoned for life or sentenced to death.
