Chapter 586 Proving Himself
She had just returned from university lately and felt lonely living by herself. On top of that, she also missed Nico
dearly.
After completing a self–study session at the university, Summer was passing by the Jenson residence when she
heard the housekeepers talking about Cedrick’s return.
She figured that Nico would most probably be home too if Cedrick had made it back safely, so she came rushing
over as quickly as she could.
It wasn’t until she arrived at Harrick Villa that she found out Cedrick was at the police station.
Gwendolyn and Cedrick exchanged glances before stepping aside and pointing in the direction behind them.
“There’s your Nico,” Gwendolyn said.
Not wanting to disturb the two lovebirds, Nico had deliberately kept a wide distance between them.
His tanned skin and dark green military outfit made it a little hard to spot him at night.
Summer was frozen when she saw him, and her eyes reddened almost instantly.
Nico touched his face and asked in confusion, “What’s with that expression? Did I become ugly or something?”
Summer ran up to him and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck as she sobbed, “Why did your skin, turn so
dark? You must have suffered a great deal at the border lately! It hurts me just thinking about it!”
Nico’s heart softened the moment he heard that last sentence, and he just stood there rooted to the spot.
Ah, so Cedrick isn’t the only one who has someone waiting for him now… Man, this feels great…
Feeling touched at the thought of that, Nico knew his eyes had reddened as well.
Seeing as Nico was just standing there in silence, Gwendolyn reminded him, “Don’t you see that she’s crying? Hurry
up and give her a hug! In fact, you should carry her home and comfort her! She has been missing you a lot over
the past few days!”
“Understood,” Nico replied as though he had just received a task from Gwendolyn.
He then scooped Summer into his arms and said, “We’ll be heading back now.”
Cedrick and Gwendolyn nodded in unison.
Nico then turned around and left with Summer while the light from the street lamps cast a long shadow behind

“Your skin is really dark, Nico! You look even nerdier than before!”
“Am I ugly?”
“Not really. Your facial features are still handsome, so it makes you look a little more masculine. I’ll give you a facial
when we get back. Your skin will be radiant in no time!”
“Ew! Why would a man like me need that stuff?” Nico exclaimed in disgust.
“Men can look good with flawless skin too! Now that you’re back, you need to drop this tough guy act and listen to
me!”
Cedrick and Gwendolyn couldn’t help but chuckle when they heard their conversation.
“Hubby, you should teach Nico a thing or two about romance when you have the time. That guy is so dense that
he’ll probably end up upsetting Summer, Gwendolyn said.
Cedrick scooped her into his arms. “It’s not our place to meddle with their relationship. Even the densest of men will
someday come to their senses and learn to be romantic. Just give him some time to learn it himself.
He then lowered his head and gave Gwendolyn a kiss on the lips as he continued, “It’s getting late, and we have
had a very long night. You should get some rest.”
“We haven’t seen each other in a long time, though. Don’t you want to have some bedtime activities, Hubby?”
Gwendolyn asked with a pout.
Of course I do! Things were tough at the border due to the ridiculously hot sun and the lack of resources, but the
worst part was not being able to see Gwenny! Now that I’m finally back, the one thing I want to do the most is get
intimate with her. However…
“You have yet to fully recover from your mania, and we have been up all night handling Xander. On top of that, we
still have a ton of stuff to take care of tomorrow. Your body might not be able to handle the stress if we go at it
tonight,” he said with a sigh while walking toward Harrick Villa.
Feeling displeased with his response, Gwendolyn leaned in close and taunted him, “Looks like your trip to the border
has lowered your sexual performance. You used to say I wouldn’t have to do anything except lie there and enjoy
the process. What, you can’t do that anymore?”
Cedrick’s expression turned gloomy almost instantly.
Although he knew that Gwendolyn was only saying that to taunt him, his pride still prevented him from letting it
slide.
He felt a strong urge to bring her back to the bedroom and prove himself to her.
“In that case, I’ll let you experience it for yourself. Let’s see if my performance really has dropped!”
Gwendolyn flashed him a satisfied smile and tightened her grip on his neck while he carried her into the master
bedroom.
The two then took a nice, warm bath before beginning their night of passion.
The babies were at Valentino’s house, so it was just the two of them at the villa. They could have all the fun they
wanted without worrying about closing the doors and windows.
After having sex. Gwendolyn felt an aching sensation in her waist, which was something she hadn’t experienced in a
long time. Cedrick then carried her into the basement where she could get some sleep.
She slept so soundly due to the exhaustion that she didn’t have any manic episodes that night.
The two of them slept in until Gwendolyn was woken up by her phone’s ringtone in the afternoon.
It was yet another unknown number, but she recognized it as the number Asher gave her last night, which
belonged to Paul.
Due to the poor reception in the basement, she snuck out and made her way into the living room before answering
the phone.
“Have you made up your mind yet?”
“Yes, I have. I won’t take Annie with me. She is a member of your family, so it would only make sense that I return
her to you,” Paul exclaimed with a hint of despair in his voice.
Huh? Did he really come to his sense in just one night? Isn’t that a little too soon? What is Annie playing at this
time?
“Annie and I are currently on Summerbank Island in Salinsburgh. Come here in two days, and I will personally hand
her over to you. I do hope you won’t be too harsh on her, Ms. Harris,” Paul continued.
“What I do with her is not your concern, Mr. Hall. Are you going to have me head over to Summerbank Island on my

“No, you may bring your bodyguards with you. I just hope you won’t bring Mr. Jenson along, I don’t wish to involve
the military in this.”
Gwendolyn did not agree to that request either.
“Why are you so afraid of the military, Mr. Hall? Did you do something bad in Chanaea? Are you afraid that an
investigation would ruin your reputation as a member of nobility in Ospea?”
Paul let out a huge sigh. “You said bringing Annie home is a part of your family’s affairs. In that case, I hope you will
handle it behind closed doors. Things are going to change drastically if Mr. Jenson gets involved.”
Gwendolyn couldn’t care less about his preferences as she was the one who held the power.
“Cedrick is my husband, and I have never been to Summerbank Island, so he won’t be able to rest easy unless he
comes with me. While it is pretty much certain that he would tag along. I have the power to control what he does.
As long as Annic doesn’t try anything funny, we will resolve this privately at the Harris residence.”
“Ms. Harris…”
Not wanting to waste any more time arguing with him on this, Gwendolyn said, “If you’re going to make so many
demands of me, then I won’t head over and meet you. You two can never leave Chanaea as long as I’m around, so
it’s only a matter of time before I find Annie on my own. When I do, things are going to be a lot harsher for her.”
She then hung up the phone immediately after, leaving Paul and Annie to think carefully about what she said.
I’ll have to meet up with them on Summerbank Island two days later and resolve this issue once and for all!
She was snapped out of her train of thought when Cedrick hugged her from behind and rested his chin on her
shoulder.
She turned toward him and asked with a gentle smile, “You’re awake, Hubby? Did you sleep well?”
“As long as you’re here with me, I could be sleeping under a bridge and still have a good night’s sleep!”
Cedrick replied.
Gwendolyn let out a snicker. “There’s no way I’d ever sleep under a bridge with you! Even if we are able to handle
it, our babies can’t!”
Cedrick nodded. “You’re right, Gwenny,”
He then took a whiff of her fragrant scent before continuing lazily, “I heard you talking to Paul on the phone earlier.
Do you need me to bring an army along two days later?”
