Chapter 803 Releasing Megan
Benedict nodded. “I understand, Mommy. I’m just a bit short of breath.”
Upon hearing him gasping for breath, everyone in the ward became instantly worried. Joshua quickly hooked
Benedict up to various medical devices and examined the child.
Gwendolyn inhaled sharply. Seeing that, Cedrick pulled her into his arms, softly comforting her. “Don’t worry.
Everything will be all right.”
After a series of inspections. Joshua finally breathed a sigh of relief, a smile appearing on his face.
“Benny’s health indicators are all the same as before. It’s just that his fall resulted in excessive physical activity, so
he appears a bit weak. He just needs a good rest to be fine.”
Hearing that, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Zendaya gently touched Benedict’s leg, feeling somewhat guilty.
She cooed softly. “Don’t be bothered by the pain, okay? Tonight, I will tell you a story, okay?”
Benedict raised an eyebrow. “Stories like Snow White again? I prefer the ones where the wolf comes to eat the
children.”
Although his face was a bit pale, he still had the energy to joke around, which showed that he was doing well.
Gwendolyn relaxed.
At that moment. Cedrick’s phone vibrated twice. It was a message from Swain.
Seeing a change in his expression, Gwendolyn glanced at him. Cedrick silently walked out of the ward.
Swain: Boss, there’s new information. Megan’s house has been searched. According to our people, they probably
know we’ve taken Megan.
Megan had been constantly watched by that group of people. If she were released, they would surely kill
her.
However, if they continued to detain Megan, the investigation would come to a standstill. Therefore, whether to
release Megan or not was a tough decision to make.
Swain: Boss, please give your instructions,
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCedrick read the text message he received from Swain twice, then typed out his response: Wait for my notification.
After replying with just four words, Cedrick returned to the ward. Gwendolyn kept her gaze on him, studying his
expression. She moved closer and asked softly, “What’s wrong? What happened?”
Joshua was having a great time playing with the children while Cedrick led Gwendolyn out of the ward to the quiet
end of the corridor.
“We need to release Megan,” said Cedrick.
Gwendolyn quickly caught on and nodded. “We do. Since Megan has pretty much explained everything. it’s not right
to keep her detained for long. We have to let her go eventually. Although, do you plan just to let Megan go like this?”

After all, if Megan went back alone, she would be doomed.
If the mastermind behind the scenes were truly Joe, that man would surely kill Megan.
Cedrick responded, “I plan to have Swain secretly escort Megan back home. I will also accompany them so I can
adapt to any situation that may arise.”
Based on his understanding of Joe, he was the only one who could capture that man.
After that incident, Gwendolyn realized Joe was a madman who acted without considering the
consequences.
Moreover, with his hatred for Cedrick, trouble would certainly ensue if the two of them were to meet.
However, Gwendolyn had no choice in that matter. They both had no choice.
Peace wouldn’t return to their family so long as Joe was still out there.
Seeing the worry in her eyes, Cedrick directly pulled Gwendolyn into his arms, reassuring her, “Don’t worry, Darling.
I will be careful. I won’t let you and our child worry.”
Gwendolyn lightly hit him, gently warning. “If you can’t come back safely, I won’t forgive you.”
After a tender moment at the end of the corridor, Cedrick left.
Gwendolyn returned to the ward. Joshua had already left to handle work, and Nico had returned to the office,
leaving only the children in the ward.
It seemed as if Benedict was worn out from playing. He fell asleep while still on an IV drip.
Zendaya sat by the window, gazing outside. Her usual playful and cheerful demeanor was replaced by at sullen
expression. It was unclear what she was thinking about.
“What are you looking at, Zendy?” Gwendolyn tiptoed over and gently ruffled her darling daughter’s hair.
“Mommy!” Upon hearing Gwendolyn’s voice, Zendaya immediately threw herself into the former arms, her voice
tinged with a hint of a sob. What happened today is because of my fault. I’m the one who caused Benny to get hurt.
I don’t feel good about it…”
The little girl pouted, whimpering softly. Her long, curled eyelashes quickly became adorned with glistening
teardrops, which fell slowly like beads off a broken string. It would seem that the incident had genuinely frightened
her.
Gwendolyn patiently wiped away her daughter’s tears, holding her daughter tightly in his arms, comforting her. “We
won’t blame you, Zendy. It’s our fault. We haven’t been able to be with you two these. past few days, causing you
to worry. I know you guys are very happy because I’m back, and that’s why you played so excitedly. It’s okay.
Moreover, Benny is a boy and your big brother. Therefore, it was natural he would instinctively want to protect you.
He didn’t blame you, didn’t he?”
After Gwendolyn comforted her daughter, Zendaya finally stopped crying, nestled against her, and drifted off to
sleep.
Wiping the tears from her daughter’s face, Gwendolyn felt an unparalleled sense of satisfaction.
Now, all she wanted was for all the people she cared about to be safe and sound, for her children to be healthy,
and to live a good life with Cedrick.

To her, everything else was extraneous.
The sky outside gradually darkened, and Cedrick, leading his men, arrived at the hotel where Megan was staying.
Upon entering the hotel room, he saw Megan hiding under the table. Hearing his footsteps, she dared not
make a sound.
It wasn’t until a pair of hands reached under the table to pull her out that she lost control and screamed in terror,
“Don’t kill me! Mr. Jenson said he would protect me. You can’t touch me!”
Cedrick leaned against the wall from a distance, watching Megan, who had only spent one night in the hotel and
was already so frightened. He couldn’t help but shake his head and laugh resignedly.
Megan was adamantly refusing to let the police officer drag her away. Waving her hands in agitation, she was so
worked up she was practically ready to bite someone.
Cedrick frowned. “Megan, didn’t you want to go home? If you want to go home, you need to behave yourself. They
won’t hurt you.”
“Going home? Really? Mr. Jenson, are you sure I can go home today? I’m not going to die, am I?” Megan looked at
Cedrick in disbelief, her face full of anticipation.
Cedrick smiled. “Of course, as a condition of your previous honesty, I will find a way to send you back. If you want
to survive, you have to listen to me. You can’t act recklessly. After all, the enemy has a gun. If they silence you, I
can’t do anything about it.”
Megan was listening very attentively.
She knew that Cedrick was not exaggerating. The enemy could even get their hands on guns, and she was just a
defenseless woman. She had no power to fight back.
She instantly understood and obediently emerged from under the table. “Mr. Jenson, I’ll listen to you. I know you’re
a person of great importance. You’ll definitely be able to protect me.”
She finally had a large sum of gold, something she had never experienced in her life. She really didn’t want to die
just like that, without having enjoyed any of the finer things in life.
“Whatever arrangements Mr. Jenson makes, I will follow. I absolutely won’t cause you any trouble!” said Megan.
