Harold refused to step down.

“Harold Lowe, what’s the meaning of this? Are you worried that I might break my own promise?” Gilbert’s

expression darkened.

All the major members of the Youngs were present and he was about to become the leader; if he confirmed the

engagement immediately, he would become the laughing stock of his own family for taking it back afterward.

If he lost the trust of his own family, he would no longer be respected.

“That’s right. I am kind of worried! If you don’t intend on breaking your promise, why are you trying to delay it? Do

There was still room for discussion if there was a dispute between Harold and Gilbert at the moment; but if the

dispute occurred after Gilbert was made the leader, Harold would risk angering all the

Youngs.

He knew his leverage and would not allow Gilbert to become the leader until he confirmed the engagement.

“That’s enough, Harold Lowe!” Gilbert’s face twisted with anger.

He already decided to reject the proposal as soon as he became the leader of the family and did not expect Harold

to be sharp enough to stop him from breaking his promise by catching him by surprise.

‘Gilbert, since the Northern King wants confirmation, you might as well give it to him!”

“Yeah! This marriage will benefit both of our families and since we are all here, we might as well confirm the dates

of the engagement so that we can all be witnesses to it!”

The elders agreed as they all wanted to join forces with the Lowes for the benefits of the family and confirming the

dates would only be a good thing for the Youngs.

“I-” Gilbert’s expression darkened.

Unlike the elders, he promised Iris that he would turn down the proposal and did not know what to say to

“Dad, don’t forget what you said to me earlier,” Iris paled and stared at Gilbert pointedly, fearing that he would

betray her.

“I know. I won’t forget!” Gilbert took a deep breath and gritted out, “Northern King, I’m sorry, but Iris refuses to

accept the marriage and since there’s no point in forcing her into getting married, let’s just call this off!”

He was just one step away from becoming the leader and since they were within the Youngs‘ territory, Harold would

not be able to hurt him since he was only in the Semi–Overlord State.

“What?!” The Youngs were all taken by surprise as an alliance with the Lowes was beneficial to the family and none

of them could understand why Gilbert would turn it down.

The elders, who knew that Gilbert agreed to the marriage, were also taken by surprise that Gilbert broke his

promise. However, since Young Group stabilized and Gilbert was about to become their leader, they could not

possibly object to his decision.
