"It's none of your business," Sophia said, then turned to Daniel, "Chairman Crawley, the first floor is the company's public

showcase and lounge area, and it's always been open to the public. The company has a rule that non-employees can't use the

elevator, but there's no specific rule saying non-employees can't enter the ground floor public area. There's no sign at the entrance

forbidding outsiders, and the security guards didn't stop anyone saying they couldn't cin. If you're worried that outsiders

coming in might give your company a bad rep, | suggest you put up a sign at the entrance making it clear that non-employees

aren't allowed, and give the security guards a heads up in advance, instead of coming down on a barely two-year-old kid like a ton

of bricks."

After speaking, she walked out, holding Theresa.

It took a moment for Daniel to snap out of it, and when he did, his face turned thunderous.

"So they barge in and they're in the right?" Daniel snapped, his face dark with anger, "Besides, how | set rules in my company is

my call. Since when do | need a lecture from someone like you?"

Sophia paused for a moment, then turned back and said, "Indeed, | have no right to lecture you. But for someone who can say 'l

decide how my company's rules are set," | must say, your dad was quite the visionary for not handing the company to you."

Cindy stepped out of the elevator just in tto witness Sophia giving Daniel a piece of her mind. Her eyes widened in shock, but

then she was even more surprised when she noticed the little girl Sophia was holding. She immediately remembered Sophia

mentioning something about having a child through a sperm bank, and couldn't help but take a curious look at Theresa.

Theresa was carefully protected in Sophia's arms, shielded from the prying eyes.

Ignoring Daniel's increasingly livid expression, Sophia nodded politely and then left with Theresa in her arms.

Grace quickly picked up Theresa's bottle bag and followed without noticing the sheets of paper that Marian had carelessly placed

on the soft chair, which were now slightly lifted by the breeze.

Cindy hurried after them too.

"Director." She caught up with Sophia outside the building.

Sophia turned around, a bit surprised to see Cindy, and then asked, "What are you doing down here?"

"I'm going to grab lunch with you," Cindy replied, a bit startled by the question, "I asked you in the office if you were going for

lunch, so we could go together. You nodded and said 'yeah'."

Sophia felt a bit embarrassed: "Sorry, | wasn't paying attention."

Looking down and seeing Theresa curiously sizing up Cindy, she said, "Theresa, say hello."

With a sweet, milky voice, Theresa greeted Cindy, "Hello."

Cindy's heart melted at the sound, and she exaggeratedly told Sophia, "Oh my god, she's too cute, and so pretty too."

Then she couldn't resist asking Sophia hesitantly, "Is she your daughter?"

With lunchtapproaching and fearing they might be spotted by others if they stayed, Sophia didn't answer right away but

looked around and suggested, "Let's find a place to eat first."

"Sure," Cindy quickly agreed, "What do you feel like eating? | know the good restaurants around this area."

"Anything's fine. Let's find a place that's quiet and not too crowded," Sophia said.

"Then let's head to the back street. It's just a small alley behind the company. It's usually quiet at noon, but the food is really

good." Cindy said as she started walking toward the back street.

Though she was only a year or two younger than Sophia, Cindy was full of energy and zest.

Sophia nodded: "Sounds good."

Once they sat down in the restaurant, Theresa finally got off Sophia's lap. Her eyelashes were still wet with a few tears, but she

had stopped crying and was now snuggling up to Sophia, curiously eyeing Cindy.

Cindy leaned in, smiling and greeting her, "Hey there, kiddo, I'm Cindy. What's your name?"

"I'm Theresa." Theresa introduced herself seriously, then sweetly greeted her, "Hi, Cindy."

"Such a sweet talker." As Cindy spoke, she couldn't resist pinching her chubby cheeks, then turned to Sophia with her earlier

puzzle, "Director, is Theresa really your daughter?”

Sophia didn't hide it and nodded, "Yeah."

"Did you go to the sperm bank?" Cindy asked delicately with a cough.

Sophia gave her a look, neither confirming nor denying, just awkwardly smiled without continuing the conversation.

Cindy took that as confirmation that Theresa was the child Sophia had through a sperm bank and couldn't help but glance at

Theresa again before looking back at Sophia, "Did you use a foreign donor? The kid doesn't look mixed."
