Theresa stepped out of her house and made a beeline for the elevator, but as soon as she reached the elevator, she hit a snag.

Staring at the shut elevator doors, Theresa looked totally clueless and flustered. She gazed at the doors for quite stime,

vaguely recalling her mom and Grace pressing a button above.

Her puzzled eyes slowly drifted towards the elevator buttons. She reached out tentatively, barely able to touch them.

Her chubby cheeks puffed out in disappointment, and Theresa turned to check out the fire exit behind her. Driven by curiosity, she

pushed the door open, eyed the long staircase with trepidation, wanting to go down but not quite daring to.

Theresa glanced back at the elevator, then at the staircase, hesitated for a moment, but then stepped into the stairwell.

The stairs were a bit tall for her, and she struggled to make her way down.

Theresa only paused for a second before decisively using both her hands and feet, crawling down step by step.

She had no clue where the first floor was or where the underground parking was, just instinctively followed the stairs downwards

until there were no more steps, just a door. Pushing it open, she emerged, breathing heavily.

But what greeted her was the dimly lit parking garage, quite different from the bright and bustling main road she remembered with

lots of cars zooming back and forth.

Theresa looked around at the scattered cars, a bit lost, her big beautiful eyes slowly scanning the surroundings until they lit up at

the sight of the light from the vehicle entrance.

But she didn't know what that place was for, just felt that the bright spot must be like the outside world, so she took off running

towards the light.

However, she didn't forget the lesson her mom taught her about walking close to the edge of the road, not in the middle, so

despite her clumsy run and struggling to keep the milk bottle bag from sliding off her elbow, Theresa stuck close to the wall.

She ran and paused intermittently, stopping now and then to look around in confusion before continuing towards the light.

There were no guards in the parking garage, just automatic card readers at the gate.

At this hour, there weren't any cars coming in or out of the complex.

Theresa made it out of the garage without a hitch.

The hustle and bustle of the street perked up the tired little girl. The milk bottle bag she was elbowing was a bit big and started

dragging on the ground as she grew weary.

Theresa didn't know how to hold it up, so she just lifted her elbow high.

Her pajama pants were getting loose, so she hoisted them up, lifted her elbow, and cheerfully ran towards Brandon's company.

She had a good memory and a great sense of direction.

She remembered the way she cback with her mom at noon.

Theresa figured her mom's drawing must still be at HandsUnkie's office, and she was determined to retrieve it.

So with sheer determination in her heart, she ran with gusto and speed.

It was just that her bottle bag and pants were not so cooperative.

She would run for a bit, then have to stop, panting, to pull up her pants and hoist up her bag before running off again, seemingly

tireless.

As she ran, the number of pedestrians on the streets began to increase.

Many just looked at her with confusion and concern.

Theresa, with her short legs and small stature, didn't notice the adult glances and was getting really tired, slowing down her steps.

But she didn't give up, just kept walking and looking ahead in bewilderment.

A young couple, seeing a little girl wandering alone on the street, couldn't help but worry and stepped up to intercept her, "Little

one, where are your parents?"

Theresa looked up, puzzled, at the young, pretty sister and brother.

She shook her head blankly: "Mommy gone to work."

The girl asked, "Then why are you out here by yourself?"

"I need to get mommy's drawing," Theresa said earnestly.

The young girl didn't quite understand and exchanged a glance with her boyfriend standing beside her. Theresa, anxious to keep

going, tried to move forward.

The young girl quickly grabbed her arm, "Honey, it's dangerous for you to be out here alone. How about | take you home, okay?"

Theresa shook her head and cautiously stepped back a few paces. She remembered her mom saying not to go off with strangers.

The young girl didn't dare to take her away either. After a brief discussion with her boyfriend, she called the police.

Theresa watched them make the call, a bit scared, her eyes wide and round, she began to inch back, thinking of running away.

The girl quickly smiled to reassure her, squatting down to chat, making small talk to calm her.

Theresa was getting antsy, repeatedly murmuring softly, "I want to go."
