"Alright." It took a moment before Sophia's soft voice cthrough the phone.

"Can you head hnow?" Brandon asked quietly.

"I actually have something going on right now," Sophia said, her voice still gentle and soft, "Could you go back and keep Theresa

company first? I'll head honce I'm done."

"I didn't cout to pick a fight with you," Sophia added, "Just got a bit tied up tonight."

"Alright," Brandon nodded, "then hustle back hwhen you're done."

"Mhm."

Sophia gave a light nod and a soft reply. Her voice was faint, but her promise carried weight.

"I'll hang up now," Brandon said.

"Okay."

Sophia responded, bidding him farewell before ending the call. She then let out a long sigh and looked down at the nearly finished

white jade in her palm.

The mini Jesus statue was delicate and intricate, shimmering under the streetlights.

She had just picked it up from the jade carver, having cto collect the replica Jesus statue.

She had just left the jade carver's place.

Before Brandon's call, she had been hesitant and unsure about finishing the piece.

She was really grateful for Brandon's call.

Her open palm slowly closed.

Sophia, with the replica Jesus in hand, returned to her DIY shop to finish the incomplete gift.

Being an artist and designer, she had skillful hands.

This kind of DIY craft was right up her alley.

But it was quite a big project, and Sophia was being extra careful, so it was taking longer than expected. By 11 PM, there was still

sfinishing work left undone.

Seeing that she hadn't cback yet, Brandon called again, asking when she would be home.

"I'm heading back now," Sophia said.

"Where are you at? I'll cand get you," Brandon said on the other end, his voice trailing off as the sound of keys being picked

up could be heard.

Sophia quickly stopped him. "No need, I'll just take a cab."

"It's too late," Brandon insisted, "Where are you?"

"Just cover to Central Plaza," Sophia said, glancing at the nearby square, "I'll wait for you there."

"Okay."

Brandon nodded.

Sophia hung up, left the unfinished necklace and scarf at the shop, made another appointment with the salesgirl, and then left.

She had just reached Central Plaza when Brandon's car pulled up.

He spotted her first and gave a light honk.

Sophia followed the sound and saw Brandon's black Cayenne parked by the curb, walking towards him.

Brandon stepped out of the car, noticing how thinly she was dressed. As she approached, he naturally took her hands into his and

rubbed them to warm them up, murmuring, "How cyour hands are so cold?"

"It's a bit chilly out," Sophia replied, "Is Theresa asleep?"

"Yeah, she's been out for a while," Brandon said, continuing to gently rub her hands in a very tender, natural gesture.

Sophia couldn't help but look at him.

He was looking down, focusing intently on warming her frozen hands, his gaze concentrated.

After a while, once he was sure her hands were warmer, he relaxed his grip and looked up at her face.

"What's keeping you busy that you can't bear to chome?" he asked.

"Just a little something," Sophia replied, then gave him a smile, "Don't worry, I'm not up to no good."

Brandon smiled back. "You wouldn't dare."

Sophia chuckled too.

"Get in the car," Brandon said, "it's cold outside."

Sophia nodded. "Okay."

Brandon turned to open the passenger side door for her.

Sophia watched his tall figure, the straight lines of his back becoming more defined as he moved under the night lights.

On a sudden impulse, Sophia called out to him. "Brandon."

"Hmm?" Brandon turned around, looking puzzled.

Sophia's lips pursed slightly, then she took a step forward, hesitantly wrapping her arms around him from behind.

Brandon's body stiffened, then he turned around, lowered his head, and kissed her deeply.
