Kent had also noticed Marian in the group and was somewhat surprised to see her there, but then again, not so surprised.

Daniel doted on her, and at the company, pretty much let her do as she pleased.

This time, Marian was clearly playing hooky under the guise of a medical check-up, obviously cashing in on her relationship with

Daniel.

When it cto pulling strings, Marian was a pro.

Kent knew Brandon had a beef with privilege, which made him glance over at Brandon and tentatively ask, “Mr. Crawley?”

“Give Chairman Crawley a heads-up later. The company has its own rules. Nobody's allowed to break them,” Brandon said coolly as

he walked over to the nurse's station.

“Got it.”

Kent echoed and followed, picking up a physical examination form for himself and snagging one for Brandon as well.

Brandon took the form and headed to the blood draw line.

Marian had just hung up the phone, craning her neck to watch a girl get her blood drawn, but she seemed scared, taking only a

glance before covering her face and turning away, her complexion pale and uneasy.

The girl behind her, who seemed to be on good terms with Marian, looked at her worriedly, “What's wrong?”

“I get queasy at the sight of blood,” Marian said with a pale face, then asked, “Can we skip the blood test for this physical?”

Brandon was busy on his phone when the words “queasy at the sight of blood” reached his ears, causing his fingers to pause on

the screen.

Marian, oblivious to Brandon nearby, focused solely on the dilemma of the blood draw, her face growing paler and more hesitant,

as if she wanted to leave, yet uncertain.

A nurse, overhearing her reluctance to get blood drawn, glanced up and said, “Just don’t look at the needle. I'd still recommend a

full check-up though.”

The colleague behind Marian nodded in agreement, “Yeah, just don’t look and you'll be fine.”

Marian nodded, her face still pale. She watched the girl in front of her finish and leave before reluctantly taking a seat.

But as the needle approached her vein, before it even pricked her skin, Marian turned deathly pale and hastily stood up, blurting

out in panic, “No, no, | really can’t handle it, | won't do it, | won't do it.”

In her hurry, she nearly knocked over the chair.

The girl beside her was startled by Marian’s reaction and quickly supported her, incredulously asking, “You're this scared of just a

blood test? How do you manage your physicals? Do you never get blood work done?”

Marian, gripping the girl's arm tightly, refused to look at the needle in the nurse's hand and said, “If I'm not sick, | rarely get blood

tests. It's been years since | last did one.”

Brandon, who had been watching silently, furrowed his brow in confusion.

Years without a blood test? What about her and Martin's paternity test results?

Without further thought, Brandon walked out, pulling out his phone to call Martin.

Martin answered quickly.

“Hello?” A familiar voice cthrough.

“It's me, Brandon,” he said, getting straight to the point, “How did you confirm the paternity with Marian?”

Caught off guard by the sudden question, Martin paused before replying, “Obviously, at a hospital.”

Brandon asked, “What kind of samples were used?”

Martin answered, “Hair.”

Brandon was silent for a moment.

Martin continued, “Marian’s afraid of blood, so we couldn't use it, had to go with hair.”

Brandon looked back at Marian in the hall, who had moved far from the blood draw station, still pale, visibly scared.

“You need to go to the city hospital,” Brandon said, “I'll be there in about twenty minutes.”

Martin was taken aback, “What for?”

Brandon was firm, “I want you and Marian to redo the blood test.”

Martin was silent.

“I'll hang up now, see you in twenty.”

After ending the call, Brandon turned back toward the hall, walking towards Marian.

Marian, still neck-stretched, watching the blood draw station from a distance, too scared to watch or try, was caught in her

dilemma when she saw Brandon marching straight towards her. She froze, tilting her head back, gaping at Brandon, uncertainly

calling out, “Mr. Crawley?”

Brandon glanced at her coldly, “Cwith me.”

“Huh?” Marian stammered, confused, “Go where?”

Without a word, Brandon turned and walked away.

Marian quickly grabbed her bag and followed.
