Brandon made a beeline for the elevator, heading straight to the underground parking garage.

Marian trailed right behind him, clueless about what Brandon wanted from her and not daring to pry. But seeing his stone-cold face

made her a bundle of nerves. Yet, despite the jitters, she couldn't let go of this chance to have a one-on-one with Brandon.

This was her first tgetting a solo call-up by Brandon.

So there Marian was, a nervous wreck, yet couldn't help feeling a tiny buzz of excitement.

Brandon didn't utter a word the whole way, just fished out his car keys and beeped the car open.

"Get in."

He said it flat, already striding towards the car.

Marian was a bit taken aback, her surprise tinged with a hint of delight.

"Mr. Crawley, did you need something from me?"

She couldn't help but ask as she walked towards the black Cayenne, pulling open the passenger door.

Brandon, having opened the driver's side door, turned to see her opening the passenger side and pointed straight to the back seat.

"Back seat."

Marian looked a tad awkward. "Sitting in the back doesn't feel right. It's like I'm treating you as the chauffeur."

"It's not about what's right or wrong." Brandon's response was indifferent. "Just sit in the back."

"Oh." Marian replied, a bit deflated, but obediently opened the back door and settled in.

"Mr. Crawley, where are we heading?"

As Brandon started the engine, Marian couldn't resist asking.

"I need to talk to you about something."

"What's that?"

"You'll know when we get there."

Brandon finished talking, and the car slowly pulled away.

Marian didn't dare to ask more and couldn't help but scope out Brandon's car, her gaze eventually landing on his phone on the

side.

The phone lit up with an incoming call.

Marian could vaguely make out the n"Grace" - nothing threatening there.

"Mr. Crawley, your phone is ringing." She couldn't resist giving him a heads-up.

Brandon glanced at the phone and saw that it was Grace calling, so he picked it up.

No sooner had he answered the call than Theresa's heart-wrenching sobs burst through from the other end, gasping for "mommy, |

want mommy," crying so hard she couldn't catch her breath, along with coughs and retches from crying too hard.

Brandon's expression shifted ever so slightly as he eased the car to the side of the road and asked Grace, "What's wrong with

Theresa?"

"She's been fussing all day about seeing Sophia. We video-called Sophia, and when she saw her on the high-speed train, she threw

a tantrum, insisting on going with her. Nothing we say calms her down."

Grace spoke anxiously from the other end, not forgetting to turn back and try to comfort Theresa, but to no avail.

"Where's Sophia?" Brandon inquired.

"Sophia can't calm her down either. Her train has already left, so she asked us to get in touch with you." Grace explained.

"Hand the phone to Theresa."

Brandon said, pulling the car over, switching the call to video.

Theresa appeared on screen, sobbing messily, still crying with a hoarse voice, gasping, and repeating "I want mommy," looking

utterly pitiful.

Brandon's heart clenched, and he called out to her softly, "Theresa."

The gentle, deep voice made Marian involuntarily look at Brandon, staring at his tender profile.

Brandon's attention was solely on Theresa, who was struggling to breathe between sobs.

At the sound of Brandon's voice, Theresa finally paused, lifting her swollen, red eyes and calling out hoarsely, "Daddy."

Her eyes were still swimming in tears, and after calling out, she couldn't hold back her cries, sobbing to him, "lI want mommy."
