"I'm not losing weight, really, Godmother, you don't need to worry," Sophia said awkwardly, trying to adjust to the public attention
and Amanda's motherly concern.
Amanda, however, was having none of it. She clasped Sophia's hands tightly, inspecting her from head to toe. "You look thinner to
me. You're always putting on a brave face."
"No, truly, I'm fine, please don't worry," Sophia reassured with a smile, her eyes drifting past Amanda to catch Brandon's gaze.
Brandon's brows were furrowed, his eyes locked on Amanda with a wary intensity, like a mother hen guarding her chicks from a
hawk. Sophia gave him a calming smile.

Amanda seemed oblivious to anyone but Sophia. After a thorough inspection to ensure Sophia was indeed in good health, she
finally turned her attention to Marian and Kris, giving them a cursory glance.
Marian, unfamiliar with Amanda, looked on with curiosity. She was surprised by the woman's affection for Sophia.
Kris, on the other hand, recognized Amanda and shared a bit of history with her. Yet, he was puzzled, as he couldn't recall any
connection between Amanda and Sophia. His thoughts lingered on this oddity.
Standing at the edge of the crowd, Patricia frowned, having overheard Sophia call Amanda "Godmother." She remembered Daniel's
investigative report mentioning Amanda Ferber, mother of Harvey Ferber from the Ferber Group, and pieced things together.
Amanda's affection for Sophia seemed genuine, but Patricia couldn't fathom why such a prominent family would care so deeply for
someone they considered an outsider. Unless, of course, Sophia wasn't who she claimed to be.
Patricia's calculating gaze shifted to Sophia, but she couldn't discern anything unusual.
Sophia, too, was a bit on edge, unsure of Amanda's intentions.
Amanda cast another indifferent look at Marian and Kris and asked, "Who are these people? It's hardly appropriate to make a scene
like this."
With that, Amanda turned back to Sophia. e on, let's go get you something nice to eat."
As Amanda attempted to lead Sophia away, Brandon stepped in, his arm barring their path. "Sorry, Mrs. Ferber, my wife has
Sophia nodded in agreement. "Godmother, I'm meeting a client right now. I'll get in touch with you later, okay?"
Amanda looked at her sternly. "What client? You've just recovered. The doctor and | have told you countless times not to overwork
yourself. If others don't care about your health, you should."
"I know, | know. It's just a meal with a client, not hard work," Sophia placated.
"Then I'll join you," Amanda insisted. "I'll feel better keeping an eye on you. | went through a lot to get you back on your feet, and |
can't let you risk it all again."
Sophia was at a loss, glancing at Brandon for support.
