“Jill” Sean's heart nearly stopped at the sight before him.

All around them, the riding arena had exploded into chaos-shouts, screams, hooves pounding against dirt.

Sloane's chest clenched. She didn’t hesitate for a second. Urging her horse forward, she shot across the field like

an arrow loosed from a bow.

The black stallion was still on a rampage, kicking up dust with every wild step. Its eyes were bloodshot, frothing

at the mouth-completely unhinged.

Jill's horse was just as terrified, bolting blindly across the field. Jill clung desperately to its neck, her face white as

chalk, tears brimming in her eyes. She bounced helplessly with each jolt, about to be thrown at any moment.

Then, with a violent jerk, Jill was finally tossed from the saddle-but her foot caught in the stirrup. Her body

dangled just inches above the ground, dragging limply behind the runaway horse.

Sloane's heart dropped. Without pause, she veered toward the raging black stallion. As she drew close, she

yanked a hairpin from her bun and, timing it perfectly, drove it into the side of the stallion’s neck.

The sharp tip sank into a nerve point. The stallion shrieked in agony, rearing up high and flinging its rider from

the saddle. With a final scream, it collapsed to the ground.

But Sloane didn’t have tto breathe. She wheeled her horse around and charged after Jill.

Jill's horse was still tearing across the field, dragging her behind like a ragdoll. One wrong bounce and she'd be

seriously hurt.

Sloane leaned forward, closing the gap. When she drew even, she sprang from her saddle with practiced

precision and landed on Jill's horse, In one smooth motion, she bent low and freed Jill's foot from the stirrup,

pulling her back onto the saddle.

But the danger wasn’t over yet. The horse was still in a panic,

Holding Jill tight, Sloane spoke quickly but clearly. “Jill, listen to me. | need your help. Grab the reins. Help me

control the horse.”

Jill was trembling, eyes wide with fear, but she nodded and reached out, gripping the reins with shaking hands.

The horse galloped on, though slower now-until Sloane lifted her hand to her lips and let out a sharp, unusual

whistle.

It cut through the bedlam like a blade. The moment the sound reached the horse's ears, it flicked them toward

her and stumbled, as if unsure whether to keep running.

Sloane kept whistling, low and steady. Step by step, the frenzied gallop slowed to a trot... and then to a walk.

By the edge of the arena, the horse finally stopped.

Sloane exhaled deeply. Gently, she helped Jill off the saddle and onto the soft grass. Jill's legs trembled under

her, but she was safe. Her face was pale, her eyes still wide, but the worst was

over.

Sean and the trainer sprinted toward them.

Sean looked like he'd aged ten years in ten minutes. Seeing Jill standing upright, he nearly collapsed with relief.

He rushed forward and scanned her for injuries, voice hoarse. “Jill... are you okay?”

Jill threw herself into his arms, tears streaming down her face. “I was so scared...”

He hugged her tightly, stroking her back, murmuring reassurances. But just as everyone started to calm down-

A shrill voice tore through the air like broken glass.

“You vicious b*tch!”

Everyone turned. The woman who'd been riding the black stallion stormed across the grass, eyes blazing, finger

jabbing at Sloane like a blade. “How dare you kill my horse?! It was just spooked! You had no right to take its

life!”

Her fury burned hotter than the midday sun. All eyes shifted to Sloane.
