Chapter 257 A New Year's Wish

Chapter 257 A New Year's Wish

Sloane's eyes crinkled into little crescent moons as she laughed, unable to hide the joy spreading across her

face. She grabbed another piece of the crispy sesleaf and popped it into her mouth, cheeks puffed like a

chipmunk. “So good... so, so good!”

Lucas watched her with a fond smile and reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. “Just a little Snack

and I've already won you over?”

Sloane swallowed her bite and nodded earnestly. “You don’t get it-I've never had a New Year's Eve like this, No

one’s ever made food just forbefore.”

Lucas felt a pang in his chest, thinking about everything she'd been through. “From now on, every year, I'll have

Molly cup with something new and delicious just for you.”

“Deal.” Sloane beamed, not even hesitating.

Lucas’s eyes lit up in surprise. He was just about to say more.when Sloane stuffed another piece of sesleaf

into his mouth..

She blinked innocently and grinned. “Now you've eaten too. If Molly catches us, she can’t just scold me.”

Lucas looked at her mischievous face, his voice gentle with affection. “I'm the one who stole them. It's not your

fault.”

Sloane puffed up proudly. “No way. | ate it too. We're in this together.”

After learning from Sloane that this was the first true New Year's Eve she'd ever experienced, Lucas had quietly

asked the staff to prepare something special.

Following the New Year's dinner, Lucas disappeared.

Sloane stayed in the living room chatting with Madam Tessa when the sound of commotion drifted in from

outside.

She glanced toward the window, curious, but the villa’s soundproofing was too good-she couldn't hear a thing.

Just then, the butler walked in with a cheerful smile. “Ms. Sloane, Mr. Lucas has asked you to cto the

garden.”

Sloane blinked. “The garden? Why?”

Madam Tessa patted her hand with a knowing smile. “Lucas asked you to go. Just go take a look.”

Following the butler through the hallway, Sloane stepped outside-and froze.

The garden had been transformed. Dozens of staff stood spaced apart, each holding a lamp. The paper shells

were painted with intricate designs, and soft candlelight flickered within them, casting a warm, golden glow.

The entire garden shimmered like a dream, as if the stars themselves had descended to earth.

Sloane stood at the threshold, stunned. She had never seen anything like it. Her heart filled with warmth.

Then the staff gently stepped aside, revealing Lucas in the center. He was dressed in a perfectly tailored black

suit, a lamp in his hands, his gaze soft and steady. A faint smile curved his lips.

“Sloane, chere,” Lucas called, his voice low and warm.

Her heart skipped a beat, and her feet began moving on their own. As she walked closer, past the smiling staff, a

blend of wonder and confusion swirled inside her. “Lucas, what is all this?”

He handed her the lamp, speaking gently. “They say making a wish on New Year's Eve with one of these brings

good luck. Want to give it a try?”

A spark of delight lit up in Sloane’s eyes. She took the lamp and looked closely-something about the painting on

it looked familiar.

She leaned in, and suddenly realized-it was a portrait of her.

She turned to Lucas in surprise. “This drawing... it's me?”
