The next day, luxury cars lined the entrance to the summit venue.
When Sloane stepped out wearing Lisa’s “Moonlight” gown, the crowd froze.

Larry didn’t seem bothered. He stepped in a little closer. “That's fine. Actually, | wanted to ask-we’ve got a
pharmaceutical project at Houston Group. Would you be interested in-"
“She’s not interested,” Lucas cut in, stepping directly between them.
Larry's eyes narrowed for a second, but his smile remained playful. “Mr. Lucas, as her former fiancé, I'm not sure
you're in a position to speak on Ms. Sloane's behalf anymore, are you?”
