Chapter 405 Needles and Heart Eyes

“Left turn ahead!” Lucas suddenly pointed toward an emergency exit.

Without hesitation, Jaswerved sharply; the car shot up the ramp at an almost vertical angle. The rear tires

spun for a split second before regaining traction, and the vehicle burst out of the parking structure like an arrow

loosed from a bow, merging into the night traffic.

“Lost them!” Jalet out a long breath, though his hands on the steering wheel still trembled slightly.

Sloane only then realized that her back was drenched in cold sweat. She glanced down at Shawn and saw that,

though still unconscious, his breathing had steadied.

“Head to my place in the suburbs,” Jasaid, wiping the sweat from his brow. “It’s completely safe there.”

When they arrived, Sloane immediately got to work. She laid Shawn flat on the bed, her long, steady fingers

brushing lightly over his neck until she pinpointed the acupoints where the poisoned blood had pooled. Then she

took out seven needles from her case; with a flick of her wrist, they slid into the points in one smooth, fluid

motion. The thin ends trembled faintly, emitting a soft hum.

Jaime’s eyes widened as he leaned in instinctively. “Wait-this is the legendary restoring Technique? | read about

it in an ancient medical text!”

Sloane didn’t look up. Her focus stayed razor-sharp as she adjusted one of the needles. “The poison’s already hit

his heart-1 need to restart his system and flush it out fast.” Her fingers flicked one of the needles, and all seven

began to hum in perfect sync, vibrating with a faint, steady rhythm.

“Holy crap!” Jablurted, crouching beside the bed like a curious child. “This technique actually exists? |

thought it was long lost!”

Lucas returned with a glass of water, catching sight of Jaime’s expression; his lips curved in faint amusement.

“You can watch, but don’t distract Sloane.”

As Sloane worked, dark, poisoned blood began to seep slowly from the needle holes. She picked up a square of

white gauze, dipped it into a special medicinal solution, and wiped gently. With each pass, the purplish tint of

Shawn's skin faded a little more.

“This... this is unreal!” Jaburst out, barely able to contain his excitement. “You're actually pulling this off like

something out of a medical textbook! What's in that serum? Can you-"

“Jaime.” Lucas cut him off, exasperated. “Let her focus.”

Feeling guilty, Jaclamped his mouth shut and squatted quietly in the corner.

Three hours later, Shawn's breathing finally evened out. Sloane exhaled deeply, relief washing over her. Lucas

immediately stepped forward to wipe the sweat from her forehead.

Jascooted closer, eyes gleaming with admiration. “Dr. Rivers, do you take apprentices? | can make tea, do

laundry, cook, whatever you need!”

Sloane couldn't help but laugh; a faint blush colored her pale cheeks. “You're too kind, Mr. Jaime. | wouldn't dare

let you do that.”

Lucas raised an eyebrow, clearly pleased, and said without the slightest hesitation, “Sloane's always been a

He rubbed his arms as if brushing off imaginary goosebumps. “Lucas, you're impossible to watch right now!”

Lucas didn’t seem to mind; he simply pulled Sloane closer and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “And |

couldn't care less.”
