Chapter 1774 The Ladies Return Home

Cindy proposed, “Why don’t we take a stroll then? You can calm yourself down before you go back.” She wasn’t

worried about Ian being home alone at all since he was a guy.

Aurora wasn’t in the mood for a stroll, but she knew Ian would get suspicious if she went back home looking weird.

She hesitated for a moment before nodding. “Don’t go too far.” She raised her hand and called the waiter over to

pay the bill.

The ladies came out of the café and went past the Morgan Residence for some reason. Just by looking at the

outside, nobody would suspect any foul play to happen within. The residence was quiet and the door was locked, as

if nobody was inside. Nobody would think that a basement existed under the backyard, nor would they imagine a

wicked woman to be locked up in there.

Cindy couldn’t understand why Leah’s children didn’t stand up for her. Even if they couldn’t convince Bryce, they

could at least call the cops to help free their mother. It was better than being locked up in a cage. On top of it, she

seemed badly injured.

Her children are probably stupid, and she spoiled them for nothing. One is hiding like a coward while the other

asked someone who wouldn’t help them for help. They’re useless.

The ladies only came back home around noon. Ian was already back home and watching some TV on the couch

with his legs crossed. A variety show was on, and Cindy could hear the ruckus from the TV the moment she came

in.

Aurora looked at her son for a while before quickly averting her gaze and heading to her room.

Cindy sighed silently. She’s still not over the matter. She went over to Ian and asked, “Are you hungry?”

Ian sat up. First, he looked at his mother’s room, then at Cindy. “Did you ladies get into a fight?”

Cindy smiled. “You think too much. Do I look like I would get into a fight with Aurora?”

Huh, she has a point. Cindy isn’t one to argue, and Mom’s nice to her. They always get along really well even

without me around. Since that’s the case, I wonder what’s really going on here. “So what’s up with Mom? Why the

long face? Did someone get on her nerves?”

“Oh, that,” Cindy said. “Maybe she’s annoyed because she got into a fight with the taxi driver on the way home,”

she lied. “The driver knows we aren’t locals, since our accents don’t sound like it. That’s why he took the long way,

and you know how Aurora is. She wouldn’t let him take advantage of us, so she argued with him.”

Ian didn’t think that was a lie, so he nodded and asked, “What else did you two do?”

Cindy had come up with an excuse on the way home. She went to the fridge as she answered, “We went to the

hospital, but we didn’t pay him a visit. We just stayed outside to see how he’s doing. Sean called you yesterday,

right? Mr. Morgan isn’t feeling too well, and you know how much Aurora cares about the situation.”

Ian went over to the fridge with her. He might or might not have bought the story, but he changed the topic. “We’re

going over to Logan’s tonight. We should be leaving in two days if everything goes according to plan.”

Cindy took some food out of the fridge. “I see.” She didn’t care when she would leave, since it would happen sooner

or later. The sooner they left, the sooner Ian could get back on track, and the better it would be for his career.

Ian went into the kitchen with her and hugged her from behind. “I’ll have to start work soon. It’s such a hassle.”
