Chapter 1948 Alone

Cindy pressed her lips together without saying anything. Serena turned and looked at her before getting her to

come closer. Then, Serena pointed at Cindy’s design and began to point out all the flaws. Serena sounded rather

stern, but she didn’t get to a point where she was angry.

stern, but she didn’t get to a point where she was angry.

At first, Cindy felt rather embarrassed, but after Serena pointed out all her flaws, Cindy could see that her design

was really amateur. When she looked at her draft again, she recognized that it was pretty bad. Cindy nodded. “I got

it. I’ll go fix these flaws now.”

Serena didn’t change her tone, but her words sounded like she was trying to comfort Cindy. “There’s no rush.

You’re still new here, so it’s natural for you to make these mistakes.”

Cindy kept her mouth shut once more. Once they were done with their discussion, Serena sent Cindy back to edit

the draft. Cindy brought her work back to her seat. The people around her didn’t know the reason Serena had

called her into the office, so they assumed that both of them were talking about some secrets again. One of Cindy’s

colleagues seemed rather annoyed by this, and she let out a loud scoff. It was clear that she meant for Cindy to

hear it, but Cindy didn’t pay much attention to her. If she saw this happening to someone else, she might have felt

angry on behalf of the person. However, since it was happening to her, and since it didn’t cause her much trouble,

she didn’t want to care about it.

Cindy edited her work according to Serena’s orders, and her design looked much better after she was done with it.

The rest of the apprentices who had been with Serena for a while had their own tasks, but Cindy didn’t have much

to do. Serena was relatively busy, and she had told Cindy that she would give Cindy an overview of the fashion

design process once she was done with work. Cindy could only wait until Serena had the time to do so because she

couldn’t figure it out on her own.

After that, Cindy put her first draft aside and took the sketch from before to continue working on her idea. If she

were being honest, she didn’t need to interact with anyone in the company. Everyone had their own job, and she

could complete her work without having to build connections with anyone. Cindy spent the whole morning working

on her draft. Serena stopped by and made one round in the office, but she didn’t talk to Cindy.

When she saw the design in Cindy’s hand, she didn’t give any constructive comments and simply took a look before

leaving. Now, whenever Serena had the slightest interaction with Cindy, her other apprentices would start coming

up with all sorts of possibilities in their heads. Once Serena left, the apprentices began to whisper among

themselves once more.

Cindy just pretended that she couldn’t hear anything. The more I think about it, the more this seems like a usual

working environment. Like all other workplaces, it’s competitive, so I think it’s best that I embrace this with an open

mind.

design process once she was done with work. Cindy could only wait until Serena had the time to do so because she

Cindy didn’t go anywhere the whole afternoon and simply focused on completing her work. When it was finally time

for lunch, Mary from the HR department came over to deliver Cindy’s cafeteria pass. Cindy had been too focused

on her work, and she felt a little dizzy from looking at her work for too long.

She was still rather dazed when Mary gave her the cafeteria pass. “Calm down. Take your time,” Mary said with a

smile. Cindy thanked her and kept the card away. After Mary left, someone beside Cindy let out another loud scoff.

Cindy didn’t care at this point. It seems like I’ll never be able to work well with the people here. I shouldn’t force

myself to be nice to them, then. I’ll just be myself. Not many people liked me when I was working for Ian, anyway.

The people in the entertainment industry were more cunning and spiteful than the people in her workplace. So, if

Cindy could survive in the entertainment industry, she could survive anywhere. Her workplace environment was a

minor issue.

Cindy went to lunch on her own. After she got her food, she found an empty seat. No one sat at her table. Honestly,

as long as those people don’t send odd looks in my direction, I think I might actually like a workplace where no one

talks to me.
