Chapter 804

“I’m fine; it doesn’t hurt,” Mya said, trying not to worry Madelyn. Mya’s hands were once delicate and soft. After a

few challenging years, they bore several burn scars and had become rough.

Kevin approached, “Ms. Jent, we need to leave; it’s late.”

Then, a police officer approached Mya, “We need you to testify about the suspect. Could you come with us to the

station?”

Mya nodded, “Okay. Madelyn, I’m heading out.”

Madelyn replied, “Take care.”

Mya hesitated, “I’m nervous about going alone, Madelyn.”

Before Madelyn could respond, Kevin jumped in, “Don’t worry, Ms. Jent. I’ll accompany her. I have some business

there anyway.”

Madelyn said, “Thanks, Kevin. Just make sure she’s safe.”

Kevin replied, “Of course.”

After everyone was gone, Madelyn walked over to the luxury car. A bodyguard opened the door for her, and she got

in. Next to her, Zach poured some red wine into a glass.

“Try it.”

Madelyn fixed her dress and looked away, “It’s been a long time since I had a drink.”

He rolled up his sleeves and held out the glass, “Just a sip?”

She shook her head, “I’m allergic to alcohol.”

She used to drink to forget her problems, always taking an allergy pill beforehand. Zach looked surprised. He had

not known about her alcohol allergy.

“Why didn’t you mention this earlier?”

“It just never came up.”

Once at a bar, Madelyn had a bad reaction to a drink. Zach quickly took her to the hospital. Despite knowing about

her alcohol allergy, he seemed to forget or overlook it. Around the same time, Jadie was sick with a fever. After

making sure Madelyn was treated, Zach rushed to care for Jadie, and Madelyn was left alone in the hospital.

Zach quickly drained his glass of red wine, “From now on, I’ll support you in not drinking.”

Madelyn peered out the car window, arms folded, “You don’t need to change anything. This is my issue.”

Silence filled the car.

A bit later, Zach spoke up, I’ve adjusted my work plans. How about we fly to France tomorrow? Once we’re there,

you can choose the wedding spot and dress.” He took her hand, giving a gentle kiss to her fingertips as he waited

for her answer.
