Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Revenge (01)

Navien’s body shook as the spell tore through him. Blood dripped down his chin, his chest heaving like a dying

beast. Yet still, Selene’s calm gaze pinned him in place. There was no escape, not even in his mind. He had to

speak.

"I'll tell you..." He gasped, his voice ragged and broken. "I'll tell you everything. Just... just letbreathe."

Selene did not loosen her grip. Her fingers stayed locked around his bleeding hand, her expression calm and

merciless.

Navien’s lips twisted into something between a grimace and a laugh. "The Luna... of Alpha Eirik. She... she was a

witch. Just like you."

Selene’s breath hitched, but her smile didn’t falter.

Navien’s eyes burned with madness as he spoke. "She was beautiful, too beautiful. It was the first t| had

seen such a beautiful witch, she was nothing like the witches we kept as slaves."

"She was gentle in nature, nothing like the fierce she-wolves or any witches. The Luna of Alpha Eirik had enough

charm to bow down any man and make him beg for her hand."

"We thought she was nothing more than a good face and beauty, but what we didn’t know was that she was not

that simple, because when she entered Eirik’s life, everything changed."

Selene’s gaze sharpened, but she said nothing.

"We all grew up together," Navien continued, trembling. "We were of the spack of young alphas, equal in

strength. But one day, Eirik suddenly grew... stronger. Stronger than all of us. None of us could understand why.

His strength rose too fast."

Navien coughed, spitting blood, but he forced out the words. "Then we learned the truth. His chosen Luna... she

was a witch. Not a slave like the others we kept, no. He had made her his Luna. His... his equal. We never

understood why. Maybe there was a deal between them. Maybe she gave him something in return. But because

of her, he becpowerful... far beyond us all."

"We four were sworn brothers; we shared everything, but after choosing her as his mate, the bastard refused to

share her with us. We had tried every means, but he didn’t allow us to be near her, which strained our

relationship."

Selene’s fingers trembled, though she held them steady. Her heart thundered in her chest.

She wanted to rip this bastard apart right there, but she wanted to get more information from him. So she

controlled herself.

"And that witch..." Navien continued like he was already lost in those memories; his eyes flickered with cruel

amusement even through the pain.

"She bore him a daughter. A bastard daughter. No one knows who her real father was. Could be Eirik, could be

someone else. Who knows with witches, eh?" He let out a hoarse laugh, but it quickly turned into a scream as

Selene’s spell burned through him again.

"What the hell are you doing? | am telling you, if you don’t fucking stop this, | will tear you apart!" Navien

shouted. But she didn’t mind a dog's barking; she was already lost in her thoughts.

Her face had turned strange; it went from pale to rigid, then unreadable. Inside, her thoughts swirled in chaos.

She had doubted long ago but never had proof. Now the words fell like knives into her chest. Her mother... truly

was a witch.

For five to six years, Selene had lived at her mother’s side. Never once had she seen her mother cast a spell.

Never once had she noticed any sign of power. Her mother had lived quietly, softly, like an ordinary woman. But

if Navien’s words were true... then everything Selene knew was a lie.

She clenched her jaw, her nails digging into her palm.

"Why had her mother never told her about her origin? Why had she never even hinted at something like this?" If

she had never met the coven, she would never have found that she was actually a pure-blood witch.

And most importantly, why had her mother, who was actually a pure-blood witch, been wandering like this and

even fallen into the trap of a cruel werewolf? Where was her mother’s family and her coven? Why had no one

ever looked for her?

Navien, blind to her storm, went on, his voice rasping. "You know how it is. Every alpha keeps witches. We break

them. We make them forge charms, brew potions, and enchant weapons to win our wars. Witches are just tools

for us. Beautiful things to keep chained and used."

His lips curled weakly, almost in pride. "We even play with them in our beds. They're close to nature, close to

beauty... that’s what makes them so desirable. There's a rumor, too. That sleeping with a witch can make a man

stronger. Give him a longer life. Endless power."

Selene’s eyes darkened, her breath cold as winter.

"Rumor or not, we believed it," Navien whispered. "That is why witches are never free. That is why we take them

and fuck them until they forget everything and remember only us."

Navien spoke with a proud expression, not even noticing how her face was darkening with his every word. Maybe

he knew, and that’s why he was trying to get on her nerves.

Selene’s smile returned, and she looked him in the eyes, which made him flinch, and he grew angry that a girl

half his age made him flinch.

"And do you know," she whispered, "what happens to a beast that toys too long with fire?"

Navien blinked at her, confused.

Selene’s foot lashed out with the force. Her kick landed against his ribs.

The impact lifted him clean off the ground and hurled him across the clearing. His body struck a thick oak with

such violence that bark splintered and rained down like shrapnel.

Selene stood where she was, her chest rising with slow breaths. Her eyes never wavered from him, cold and

merciless, as though she could crush him again without lifting a finger.

Navien groaned, trying to move, his body trembling from the pain. The broken beast before her no longer looked

like the arrogant alpha he had been a moment ago, he looked like prey.

And Selene... she looked every bit the predator he should have never dared provoke.
