Empress Heidi sat in a pavilion in the court, gazing at the view with an utmost forlorn
expression.

Master Magaera bowed deeply. "Sorry to disturb you, Your Majesty." As he spoke, he could
not help but size Empress Heidi up.

"You came!"
Empress Heidi waved her hand at Master Magaera, signaling no need for formalities. She
said softly, "Is anything the matter?"
Master Magaera hesitated before he said carefully, "Your Majesty, I don't think throwing
Darryl Darby into the Sky Prison is the best decision to make. After all, he did do great
things for the Godly Region. The fiend race would have never been taken down so quickly
without him. I just hope-'
Master Magaera's tone was full of sincerity.
He did not do that to help Darryl but for Empress Heidi. After all, the Nine Heaven Emperor
had fallen, and Empress Heidi was in charge of the entire Godly Region for the time being.
How would people view her if she threw a hero like Darryl Darby into prison?

Empress Heidi's expression flashed with impatience and annoyance. "Don't mention him
to my face! The Emperor would never have died if it were not for him. I'm already
generous enough not to kill him right away."
Master Magaera sighed. He explained patiently, "Your Majesty, I'm not trying to ask for
mercy on his behalf. I'm doing this for you." As he spoke, he revealed what he had been
thinking the entire time.
'For me?'
Empress Heidi jerked back in shock; she stared at Master Magaera in a dazed manner
before saying, "I understand your feelings for me, Magaera. But I'm not doing that to vent.

Before he could finish his sentence, Empress Heidi cut him off. "You must know, Magaera,
that the Emperor declared that Aurin was next in line for the throne after his death."
Master Magaera gave it some thought before nodding. "Yes. His Majesty had said that
before."
"Aurin was born by a mere servant girl. How is he fit to be the next emperor?" Empress
Heidi scoffed coldly, her expression laced with
distaste. "My Auten deserves that role much more, don't you think?"
Empress Heidi exhaled softly. "Without His Majesty, they will elect a new emperor in a
hundred days. Someone's bound to nominate Aurin from what the emperor said when he
was still alive. What do you think I should do if that happens?"
"Darryl Darby hails from the Nine Mainland, but he's impossibly powerful. Under his
teachings, Aurin's bound to be miles better at everything than Auten. That's why I did
that."
Empress Heidi's expression was grim and solemn.
