Chapter 625: She's Gone??

By the large counter, the housekeeper stood, supervising the younger staff.

"Grandpa Housekeeper," she called softly.

The old man turned at once, his eyes brightening. "Nnenna," he greeted warmly, walking over so she wouldn't

have to move closer. "Welchome."

"Thank you," she said, her face lighting up with a smile so bright it made Darius stop in his tracks.

For a moment, he just stared, caught off guard. He realized, almost with a sting, that she had never smiled like

that at him.

"I was just about to deliver sorganic snacks to you," the housekeeper said, his tone half scolding, half

gentle. "And maybe use that as an excuse to finally see you myself. Word is, you refused yesterday's lunch,

dinner, and even this morning's breakfast. That's not good for a growing girl at all."

"I know, Grandpa Housekeeper," Nnenna replied quietly, listening with the kind of respect only she seemed to

give him.

He studied her for a moment, then wisely dropped the food subject, shifting his attention instead. "And who's

your friend?" he asked, his voice kind but curious.

"This is Darius, my psychiatrist," Nnenna introduced. Then, almost as if the thought had just struck her, she

added softly, "And... my friend."

Those three words hit Darius harder than he expected. His frown melted away, replaced by a grin he couldn't

hide. So she finally seesas her friend, he thought, satisfaction warming his chest.

"Welcto Lionara, Dr. Darius," the housekeeper said generously. His tone carried weight, the kind that made

it clear that anyone considered Nnenna'’s friend was also a friend of the household.

"Please, just callDarius," he corrected smoothly, flashing his usual easy smile as he extended a hand.

The old man shook it firmly, his expression thoughtful. From the look in his eyes, he seemed to think highly of

Darius already. Not that Darius wasn’t playing it up, he was definitely leaning on his signature charm.

"I'm glad you made friends while you were away," the housekeeper said warmly. Then, tilting his head, he asked,

"Do you need anything? You call the way here... perhaps because you wanted something? Are you hungry? |

can have them serve you lunch right away."

"No, I'm good," Nnenna shook her head. "Actually, | wanted to ask about Little Sweetie. | went down to her room,

but she wasn’t there. The place was empty."

At the mention of the name, Darius’s ears sharpened, his curiosity piqued. Who was this Little Sweetie?

The housekeeper’s smile faded. "Ah... Little Sweetie. She resigned the very day you left with King Somto." His

voice carried regret. "She was one of our best staff. | begged her to stay, after all, she had been with us since

she was very little. | was the one who brought her in myself. But she wouldn't hear of it. Since then, | haven't

heard from her at all."

Nnenna blinked, disbelief hitting her chest like a blow. "Wait, you're saying she left that sday?"

"Yes," the housekeeper affirmed with a heavy nod.

"Why didn’t she tellanything? All those times we spoke, she never mentioned it. Why would she just...

disappear like that?" Nnenna’s voice trembled with confusion, and beneath it, a touch of hurt.

"It didn’t make sense toeither," the housekeeper admitted with a sigh.

But before the silence could settle, Darius leaned back slightly, his expression thoughtful, almost too quick.

"Maybe she left because the only reason she was here... also left," he said suddenly, his words drawing both

pairs of eyes toward him.

Nnenna froze, her breath catching. "Are you saying... she stayed in this castle for almost a decade only because

of me?"

Her voice was thick with disbelief, her mind racing. And though she asked the question aloud, she couldn't shake

off one pressing thought: how did Darius reach that conclusion so fast... as if he already knew something she

didn't?

"Think about it," Darius pressed, his tone sharp with analysis, not realizing he was beginning to reveal too much.

"She appeared when you first cto this castle... and disappeared the very sday you left. Not just that,

the day you left with Somto. If | didn’t know any better, | would almost say she was working for him the whole

time. Spying on you... or something."

But even as she spoke, her voice faltered. Her eyes dropped, the ache settling in as the realization hit, Little

Sweetie was gone, and she hadn't even said goodbye.

"If you say so." Darius nodded, but the doubt in his eyes was unmistakable.

"Grandpa Housekeeper," Nnenna turned to him suddenly, forcing a smile. "No need to send the food. I'm not

hungry."

"Why were you looking for her?" he asked softly. "This girl... the best friend you mentioned."

"Obviously, to see her," Nnenna replied, her tone clipped. "It's been almost two years. Who wouldn't want to see
