Chapter 1058 It Was an Accident

Alec woke up feeling thirsty in the middle of the night. He struggled to sit and get water,

but he woke Jenny up instead.

"Stop moving around," she said. "Just tell me what you want."

"Water," he muttered in a hoarse voice.

She poured him a glass of lukewarm water but held the glass in her hand." You can't drink

the entire glass of water at once. I'll dab your lips with wet cotton swabs. Alright?" She

coaxed him like she was pacifying a kid.

He couldn't stop smiling as he nodded. "Sure."

With Jenny around, his thirst suddenly didn't feel that bad.

After carefully wetting his lips with the cotton swab, she returned to his bedside. "You can

rest now."

"What about you? Do you plan to look after me like this?" He was glad that she chose to

keep an eye on him, but he felt sorry for her at the same time.

"Yeah. I'm fine. Dawn is coming soon." She didn't mind staying up. Alec did the same for

her before, so she had nothing to complain about when she was in the same position.

Alec didn't share the same opinion. He moved to the side a little to make space. "Come lie

down in bed. It must be tiring to sit through the night."

"No, that's fine. The bed is cramped enough. If I lie down, I'll only disturb your rest," she

turned him down and stood up. "I'll rest on the couch. Call me over if there's anything."

The couch wasn't spacious, but it was just enough for one. Still, it beat having to rest in a

chair.

Alec didn't comment further. Instead, he started chatting with her, "Why did you suddenly

come to my place?"

She understood what he was getting at. After some thinking, she decided to come clean.

"You didn't call long after I turned on the lights in my room. It was very odd."

"Does that mean I saved myself?" He burst out laughing.

"That's right." She nodded, agreeing with him.

"Jenny, thank you," he suddenly thanked her. Even if he was the one who saved himself,

he believed that Jenny's concern was the reason she managed to find him unconscious

right away.

She pursed her lips and sat up on the couch with a serious face. "How about you thank me

by taking care of your health? You should at least eat your meals on time and rest well."

"Before I met you, I had nothing that kept me afloat. But I've changed a lot after meeting

you." At the very least, he'd take his meals on time. Even though he still stayed up late

into the night, his current lifestyle was overall better than before.

Jenny ignored his claim because she found him unconscious at home. "If you had changed,

you wouldn't have fainted from pain at home."

"It was an accident." He would have been fine after taking meds, which he happened to

run out of. There was no shop selling the meds in the neighborhood, so he decided to

tough it out. To his dismay, the pain worsened to the point that he fainted. Still, he

wouldn't say he regretted his action, for Jenny wouldn't have been taking care of him

otherwise.

"Alec, you're still young, you know?" She had a grave expression on her face. She didn't

look like she was joking.

He met her eyes and immediately understood what she meant. "Don't worry. I'll be fine. I'll

live a good life for your sake."

"No, you should live for yourself, not for me." She went back to lie on the couch. In her

opinion, no one should live their life for others. They should all be responsible for

themselves.
