Chapter 618 Not Everyone Is After Your Money

What Paul said made sense. Jenny understood him, but she had no idea what else she could do. She could only try.

What if?

What if Alec hadn't gone the predictable route and quietly snuck up on land?

When Paul saw her keeping up the search, he cussed at her and left. But before going far, he turned back. "Is

Stephanie...doing alright?"

He'd lost all contact with her once she moved to Bardoff City. He initially planned to move there like Alec, but he had

not expected this to happen.

"She's doing pretty well,’ Jenny answered. At least, Stephanie seemed fine to her.

Disappointment flashed through Paul's eyes. He couldn't seem to accept that Stephanie could do well without him.

When it came to Stephanie, Jenny didn't mind saying more to Paul. She stood up, looking at the silent man before

her. "Aren't you going to give up?"

"Why would I give up? She's my woman and forever will be," Paul said naturally; he didn't think anything was wrong

with his words.

Jenny was speechless. She rolled her eyes at him. "Haven't you considered that Stephanie doesn't want to be your

woman?"

"Of course she does!" Paul answered at once. He believed that Stephanie liked him. At the very least, there was no

way that she didn't want to be his woman.

Jenny thought he was beyond help. "Why do you think she would leave, then?"

The air around Paul tensed at once. His face turned steely. "If it weren't for your meddling, she wouldn't have had

the chance to leave."

"That doesn't mean she wouldn't be thinking about leaving. Why haven't you realized what you've done wrong,

Paul?" Jenny somehow managed to laugh. Paul was just ridiculous.

"Wrong? What have I done wrong?" Wasn’t he supposed to keep her by his side if he liked her?

Besides, Stephanie was doing alright when she lived with him. She had everything she wanted. He would have

listened to her every word if she had not been so intent on leaving him.

Seeing him like this, Jeny understood that Paul thought he did no wrong.

She sighed in exasperation and said, "If you truly liked Stephanie, you wouldn't force her to be by your side. You

didn't have to marry her at once, but you at least had to be upfront about your feelings. Not only had you not done

that, you flat out told her that you would never marry her. Why do you think she'd have a reason to stay with you?

You think she'd want you just because of your wealth and power, even if you never marry. But not everyone is after

your money.”

It was only because it was Stephanie that Jenny was willing to say so much to Paul. Back then, she thought Alec was

clueless about how to love someone. But now she understood that, comparatively, Alec was a saint.

Jenny no longer cared about him after delivering her speech. She kept her head low and continued looking for

clues.

"Do women really care about titles so much?" Paul murmured after a while.

Jenny looked up at him and nodded gravely. "Yes. We do.”

Paul left. Jenny didn't care. She could only hope that some of her words made it through his thick skull.

She continued in her search for Alec, walking along the shoreline once, but she found nothing.

What if Alec had never swam to shore? What if he had gone downstream?

That would be a terribly dangerous situation.

The water was fast, and with someone hellbent on killing him, would Alec really have survived?

Jenny’s heart sank, but she didn't give up. She prepared to go downstream to keep looking for him. There would

definitely be clues turning up.
